I can’t recall exactly, but I don’t think there were demons in the novel like we have in the drama. He was a stone goblin acting on his on free will I think. But he was in a somewhat desperate situation

In the novel he first appeared in the second tribulation, which is the third mortal life in the drama. He was in some ways the main antagonist in that life

But SL died alr tho he kept sniffing the pouch he’s allergic too LOL

Their first life was kinda anti climatic and filled with too much pointless political scheming. Honestly half the time I was wishing they’d just faster die and get on with their next life

Yes I felt the latest episodes were very anti climatic. I don’t feel invested or sad at all

honestly I don’t think the first life is executed that well I don’t feel like it’s that impactful. The death is tragic but honestly I feel like I’m just a by stander and not very invested at all in their relationship. And I’m kinda sad they took out the comedy and enemies to lovers vibe that the two leads have when their back in heaven.

They are honestly dragging this out a bit. Watching the new episodes the only thought I have is “why are they focusing on this? Once they die it’s all meaningless” because it honestly is… stop focusing on the political scheming and focus on the leads please because that’s the only thing that’s gonna matter in the next lives???

I think Chu kong retains the fondness but he just gonna hide it and deny out of embrassment lol. Or at least that’s what happened in the novel

Think they are spending more time in the first life since it’s the most significant one. But it’s true it feels very slow but in a “normal” drama with one life this progress would be considered super fast AHHAHAA

I didn’t watch Chong zi but actually she might. She’s a bit obtuse in that life and super child like

Same I honestly really like their second life in the novel where the ML and FL are master and disciple .

Maybe because the villains who sent the stone goblin to earth keep trying to interfere with chu kongs life? Also maybe cos xiangyun has her memories and is just doing whatever she wants… but honestly I don’t think she’s the reason the plot is deviating

I agree! I don’t really like that they seem to have a “history” they both forgot. I loved the enemies to lovers trope in the novel and they started as equals! In the drama Chu Kong is too mighty and xiangyun is always begging and groveling at his feet. I don’t really feel the disdain she had for him in the novel
