are you working in a hospital setting or private practice? I'm not familiar with private practices but if you are practicing in a hospital, you should have many resources available to you when it comes to dealing with difficult patients/familes. Normally, seriously ill patients would have a whole teams of providers and nurses assigned to their cares. I would suggest you talking to your immediate supervisor and a case/social worker first, and if that doesn't help, get the hospital supervisor involved. Make sure to keep records of all of your meetings and make sure your supervisor knows you are feeling threatened and it's affecting your ability on helping the patient. Lastly, are you union? if you are, talk to your union representative as well, they can explain to you more about your rights as a healthcare provider... Also, hospitals have teams of attorneys and legal experts that are available to assist their providers at no cost. Use it if you need to... Lastly, always trust your instincts and don't be afraid to speak up to protect yourself! I'm sorry you have to deal with that... 🥲🥲

at 16 she was working as an waitress at a little diner. one early afternoon, grandpa who was 18 at the time came in and ordered a coffee and stayed there for 3 hours. He was in the Navy at the time and didn't know when he'd have to leave her town to go back home a country away. 3 weeks went by and 3 coffees later, he gave her a promise ring and ask her mom if he could take her to visit his home town for couple of weeks. Every night in his home town, they spent taking long walks downtown looking at pretty stuff but were too poor to buy anything. She was particularly impressed with a pair of fancy dress shoes but didn't want to tell him anything. The next day, he asked her to open a box and the shoes were in there! She of course was so happy but also wondered how he could afford to buy them. She then noticed that his fav watch was missing from his wrist and demanded an answer..
