I saw someone on X explain it like this: the "Lost One" always tells the truth because he has nothing left to lose. In this context, he's the one who's most honest with himself, while the "Believer" can still lie to himself about what he wants. That's why the answer is the Lost One. At least that's one interpretation I found. Hope that helps!
