I think the emperors wife ie the empress and the qian wangs wife (mls mom) gave birth around the same time . So the emperor switched them out ( I don't remember why tbh) and then the qian wangs and his wife died . So there was no one who could tell the truth. And bte it was Empress Dowager who actually killed qian wang not the emperor, because she was from an enemy state and her entire country wa as taken by her husband back then. And later they were exiled to Northwest that's where quan wang, emperor and Shen yueshan (fls dad) met and they raised troops and rebelled. Later when qian wang finds out abt his mother (empress dowager) she kills him and makes his brother ( emperor) an emperor . The emperor due to guilty saves ML but can't accept giving him power as in letting him ascend the throne. Emperors feeling towards ML were quite complicated.

In the book, he was Qian wang son ( ie emperor's older brothers son ) and i think the emperor poisoned him as well -- dont exactly remeber who as i read long time ago :)

yup its a HE , regarding the FL - she is strong till the end, and is like her aunt, someone with strong and firm beliefs.. all the hurt that comes later is more about the character development, nevertheless there is so much angst and injustice portrayed in the novel and she has to navigate between the so called good and evil..all i can say is its a complicated web of connections, morals and loyalties. If possible do read the novel, because i find the narrative and the series of events make much more sense in the novel.

I think u should give this drama a chance ...it's amazing. This one (historical) seems like a sad ending but trust me it's too good to miss out .... After watching this u must watch the modern one that is forever and ever ..thats a happy ending one. Well if u ask me I'd say I like this one more than the modern one ....Anyways this drama is something that I think u shouldnt miss out
