Reminder...The novel is fl centered, her pov of life how she met zhao ling and surviving the betrayal from her loved ones . zhao ling is a general he will be away from home most of the time.Like he will be gone for 3-6 months, come back home for a week or two then he will be gone for a year. You won't see him much. If the drama was same as the novel zhao ling only be entering the scene when he meets tingyun at the temple where she was being confined (even though their meeting was more intense in the novel). But the drama is so much better. They introduced zhao ling early, made his character more cunning, cheeky and humorous and his fight sequence from ep 1 was fire. Well-choreographed and yuxi did an excellent job. Highlighted the charisma of zhao ling also him giving away the salt to poor people showed how much of a kindhearted person he is. Him proposing the idea of fake marriage shows how smart he is.None of these are in the novel. I am glad there is development in the story and the characters. Makes the drama more interesting. And it's only 4 ep so far. The story will be developing in the coming episodes, and we will get to see more of the ml and fl dynamic

This is just personal opinion. As a novel reader I found this change more fitting
