Anyway, I don't understand the the rating, this drama has quite philosophically interesting themes and more thought provoking than your regular "love fixes everything".

Title The Unclouded Soul Spoiler
I looked up the meaning of the original title and it made more sense to me - her name is Xiao Yao which is also the title and concept of freedom. I’ve come to the conclusion that this drama started with the idea of freedom, but ended with the cost of love. She is lazy, detached, emotionally light at the start, but by the end she no longer is light, she has lost, she has attachments, her motivations becomes memory not freedom. In the end Hong Ye’s parting made her lose her unclouded soul, her freedom. She didn’t get her wish that she wished for on her birthday. Hong Ye chooses burden over freedom and love destroyed Xiao You’s unclouded soul. I like this, it’s much more fun than just love fixes everything. It’s an interesting loop that they both have, Hong Ye falls for her carefree, modern mindset during three lifetimes, but in the end it cost her that carefree nature (I think).

As for the ending, it is open ended, so I suppose it’s up to us as to what it means, but for me, she went back to live in her memories, kind of tragic, how she didn’t become freer and became someone who anchors herself in the past. In a way it mirrors Hong Ye, who chose responsibility over freedom, while she chose memory over freedom.

One thing I didn’t find logical... Why human prince Hong Ye had to be killed for his sins when everything he…
my guess is that, because it's not really about justice. The Yuli spring itself isn't just a source of power, it represents breaking the natural balance of the world. She doesn't kill him for his sins, she knows he is not morally wrong, but choses to protect the order of things acting as the guardian of the balance. She already knows that gaining power won't change the injustice and suffering.
So he is not morally wrong and she knows that, but it's just about trying to achieve balance through different methods rather that just gaining power.

not a classic "happily ever after". It's more of a bittersweet and open ended ending.
He doesn’t literally die, but he is removed from the world

i’m trying not to outright spoil it, but Hong Ye is going to make a sacrifice at the end. He won’t die, but it will be up to you how you interpret the ending.

ok i just learned that this whole dream thing was because of transmigration restrictions in China and in the original story this was not a dream. I can accept that, since the original story treated this whole thing as real and wasnt allowed to just say it.. I just really hate when everything meaningful was just a dream lol.

The OST of this drama has had the most insane grip on me for 4 years. I don't care if the drama is good or not, no OST has come close to this.

this is such a highly rated drama, but oh god, i'm having a hard time watching this. I'm sure that the translations…
I’ve come back to say that I changed the platform where I watched and the transitions were much better haha. A great show, I’m glad I gave it a second chance! My only regret is not waiting until season 3 comes out, but I suppose i will have a chance to rewatch this before the new season comes out.

Just started second season and how come yan bingyun is a different actor? 😭😭 i was so excited to see more of him and figure him out. The new actor doesn't embody his aura at all, the way he walks and everything is different. It's not a big deal, but what drew my attention with yan bingyun is exactly his mysteriousness and lack of facial expressions ahhahaha

The acting is so exaggerated and it feels like the characters are acting for the camera not within the world itself. I wanted something fun and I can say that I did get some laughs out of it, but the humor is not very clever and kind of just made me roll my eyes lol.

The plot indeed is ass. Legally Romance has some office settings similarities but with a better plot, better side…
thank you for the recommendation, i will check it out :)

ahh that makes sense, thank you. By the end I was skipping scenes, because I wanted it to end faster, so it makes sense that i missed it.

It really is how people say, the chemistry between the leads is great and it's worth watching for them, but the plot is really ass and i couldn't care less for the second couple.
