I want to like this so bad, but I can't watch two minutes of this drama without cringing. I just don't like the characters, they're too flat and monotone, and the plot isn't going really anywhere, all those cliché comedy scenes are so forced that make me want to look away. The acting unfortunately is a bit stiff and with this background music's choice, I really can't get immersed in the flow of the story even if I want (but the ost it's pretty cute). So, I think I'll drop it here, in the spoiler below I'll explain why in detail.
yeah. it was way too obvious. one of the things they use a lot in k-dramas. is to make you think it's that one…
I agree, it was way too obvious, even more so because of the plot, I mean we could just suspect doctor Sung or Ba Reum as they are the only two psychopaths on which the story focus on. It is pretty clear that if you depict only one of them as the main culprit, then the real killer would be the other one for the "shock value". I still have to watch the rest of the episodes, but for now there are a lot of things that don't add up if Ba Reum is the killer, so I hope I won't end up disappointed and that they will explain better what happened.
I'm watching episode 6 and, even if everything point to doctor Sung, for some reason I really can't shake the feeling that the serial killer is Ba Reum. I don't understand what's going on with doctor Sung, but I don't think he's the real killer?? It would be too obvious... So my bet is on Ba Reum, the boy seems too innocent for it to be real. Also, he was the one to suggest to make the live broadcast even if they didn't have the answer and to fabricate the video about the kid.
Edit: just finished episode 6. So I was right and Ba Reum is not so innocent as he looks. I still have a lot of questions and there are more than a few things that doesn't seem to click, so we'll see how it goes.
I don't know if I should keep watching this... The plot doesn't seem too bad, but the storyline is kinda messy and disconnected. Also I'm not convinced about their choices on the background music, most of time it just distract me from the scene. Most of the characters (not the two ml) seem to be one-note, without much deep, but I guess I can live with that. About the acting, it's mostly okay, even if could be better, but the side couple feels kinda... Flat? And "the rude but traumatized boss who bully and then fall in love with one of the employees" trope is so common and so discussed that I won't spend time on it. I guess I'll watch until episode four or five and then decide if it's better to drop it or not.
Gave this an 8 because the serie itself was cute and kinda sweet, it was almost like a breath of fresh air in the bl drama world, but the heck is this ending?? It doesn't make any damn sense?? They should just have ended it with Kai's birthday. That end literally shoved out the window everything this drama was about and also it just doesn't fit with the characterizations of the characters. It's a mess and I'm so disappointed because I really liked this so far.
I thought that I couldn't cry more than I did in episode 5 but clearly episode 8 proved me wrong. At the end, when Sang-Gu finds all the pairs of shoes his brother bought for him over the years... I just broke down
As I only read Faraway Wanders, I can't say much about Priest as a writer, but I surely enjoy that novel; yes, the plot wasn't the most original, but I was amused by her style, the novel is narrated with a lot well placed irony and a bit of cynicism. Also, I personally fell in love with every characters, especially it was a joy reading the bickering between the two male leads and neither one of them was inherently a "good" person (I love characters with gray morals).
The drama adaptation (Word of Honor) was great, the story didn't quite followed the novel, but it was well made and at some point even more interesting; I gladly appreciate how they given more depth and importance to the female characters. The actors too did really a great job, they all captured the essence of their roles and I couldn't help but fell in love all over again with the male leads and the other mains (I particularly liked Xie'er, Scorpion King, they made him a lot more complex and intriguing character, and Immortal Ye Bai Yi, this man was so darn funny I couldn't help but laugh everytime he talked). There's always the censorship's issues and the fact that cdrama usually don't have a very large budget, so the special effects are alway a bit meh, but they did their honest best and one can see that.
Overall, I iked both the novel and the drama and I almost consider them two different version of the same story, of course, both have some flaws, but I'll be lying if I were to say that it was a waste of time. I enjoy every moment I spent reading and watching Word of Honor and I think that Ah'Xu and Lao Wen will always have special place in my heart.
Agree with you, they shouldn't have rushed the ending. Still, it's a drama worth watching and the actors have…
Oh, yeah, thank you for the reminder, I totally forgot it! It should be marked as spoiler now. Also, I agree with you wholeheartedly, the actors did a splendid job and, even it's a pity the ending wasn't handle well, the drama its worth watching!
Loved this drama, but then they started killing all the main characters without a reason or making them act in a way that make no sense knowing their personality. It kinda ruined the ending for me (I can handle a sad end if it's well written) because I wasn't able to get fully in the story and get emotionally invested in it.Overall it was a good, the last ten or so episodes were a bit of a mess, but it deserves a full eight in rating. Also kudos to the ost, it's really beautiful, I could listen to it for hours.
ok, so this is obviously adorable ect........ but am i the only one wondering how he managed to hide a marriage…
My take is that his older sister probably knows what's going on and helped him hide the marriage. Also it seems that the mother didn't know the address of their house until now, so I think she didn't visit him once in these six years and it was only him that went visit his parents in his hometown (obv without the husband and the child). It almost impossible, but I guess if one is careful you can manage for a little ?
This is SO nice and refreshing, the story is a sweet, light-hearted slice of life about two dads and their kid; there's a lot of lgbt+ rappresentation (finally!!) and the interactions between the characters are really cute, I find myself giggling all the time. The drama also shows a little bit their worries and struggles in life in a very soft way. Overall, it's really a good drama and I gladly enjoyed every minute of it!
Okay, this was pretty funny and I liked the sweet twist at the end with the confession. Even so, I prefer the manga, because in there Mob is a lot more chill and brazen and that makes everything ten time funnier, its just pure comedy. This was a nice adaptation tho, good job!!
