Kinda endearing how Dew managed to get Kaye across as an absolute awkward bean, but extremely suspicious at the same time.

Wanted to switch off my brain and watch something short with a reverse gender roles trope, didn't expect to actually have fun with this.
Definitely I wasn't expecting to see Zhen Xuan lmfao but he did not disappoint, he played his role really well. I was quite charmed by his character 😂

The editing is bit over the top and the plot kinda get lost midway, but I enjoyed it nevertheless since the acting was good.

Also, I found the princess frustrating at first, but the buzz she had with both the Xia princes in the last ten episodes was truly insane lmao.

Same! But did you know.. the Xiao Ge actor got caught up in that scandal. Before season 2 even started filming,…
Well... Apart from littering, which he definitely shouldn't do, I don't find the rest to be that much of a problem... But I can imagine that for chinese entertainment all of those are just scandals waiting to blow up. Sigh. I really hoped everything would work out this time.

yeah.. the last episodes lack something that i cant describe... it feel rush and all over the place and lack emotions.idk…
I was already mad that Xu Lei brought out that damn aliens/meteor thing, but I hated the romance with burning passion, especially because it added absolutely nothing to the story; why did I even had to watch that?

It's clear that Xu Lei himself didn't know what direction he wanted to take or how to resolve properly the character's conflict (idk why he even bother to change the plot's novels at this point) and the fact they filmed three endings already was a big warning sign, but I hoped that they would just derail-crash the ending episode, not the whole final arc.
Which is unfortunate cause this show had so much potential... I'm almost hoping that some very talented fan will re-edit the whole story adding the bts to make up a proper finale.

I'm here bc I loved them in Blossom, but as I read the plot's summary and I was like "oh okay, seems standard, nothing really intresting..." then I watch the trailer and everyone is dying, scheming and the fl actually seems cunning and rutheless?? Now this got me interested lol.

It always amaze me how Xu Lei manages to ruin his own storytelling everytime he gets too involved in the drama script instead to sticking to his novels, damn.
Anyway... They did Haixia dirty. And Haiyan too, what was that ending? The final cut deleted a lot of scenes (which they showed in the bts) that were actually very important to the plot and the characters...
Honestly, I did stick around until the end only thanks to Yuxi and Xincheng's wonderful acting, because the last ~10 eps were kinda all over the place plot wise.

I honestly don't see how this could have even a somewhat happy ending, but also Hai Xia if you really die at the…
Hai Xia is Hai Lou's whole world, so honestly I can't even imagine a timeline where Hai Lou would be able to live on without the other at his side; our little one quite literally has separation anxiety after everything that happened...
Not to mention the guilt (bc of course he'd think its his fault whatever may happen to Hai Xia), nope, Hai Lou would walk into the sea himself (i mean he tried already-) if he can't have Hai Xia to be safe and happy.

And Hai Xia is just too self sacrificing, my man would be able to find a way to basically resurrect Hai Lou from the death if something would ever happen to him lmfao like? It would mean lose his light (and humanity).
Protecting Hai Lou always has been Hai Xia most important purpose, so nothing will be ever able to harm the younger if Hai Xia is there, not even himself (I am so afraid he's gonna try to kill himself to protect Hai Lou in some way once he realises what's going on with Hai Xia).

So let's just all die atp because we are going to suffer-

I honestly don't see how this could have even a somewhat happy ending, but also Hai Xia if you really die at the end I'll go to hell myself to bring you back don't you dare 😭

The scene with the Mentor really broke me, Hai Xia just went back to being a child, terrified and in pain.
It's gonna hurt so much see him slowly losing himself, plus having Hai Lou witness all of it? That's just cruel. Especially since they both are ready to die if this mean save the other.

And having only one of them survive the whole ordeal is my biggest nightmare cause neither of them is capable to handle the other's death.

I know fully well Hai Xia won't know peace until (maybe) the end, but I really can't take him suffering like this, let my guy be happy 😭

Well, I'd be lying if I'd say I don't like it since I've been stuck in this fandom for almost 6 years, but I also do have beef with the author too since that man refuses to write/explain properly the MAJOR plot point in the whole main serie lmfao 💀

Also you need to be a little unhinged to really get in the fandom cause trying to piece together every bit of informations from all the existing pieces of media related to this serie (in order to make an understandable story) will drive you absolutely insane 😂

So I am in luck because I usually care about characters much more then plot itself heh. But these two are really…
If you're totally new, I'd say Time Raiders would be the easiest way to get introduced to the whole story: is a very valid adaptation of the first books and pretty well acted too (+ the cgi is not that bad especially if compared with earlier series).

Alternatively, you can watch The Lost Tomb 1 (2015) & 2 (2019) which kinda tell the same story, it's just more confusing and different cast for both series.

Personally, to get the gist of the whole story I'd recommend: time riders > ultimate note > the adventure behind the bronze door > tomb of the sea > reunion.
The big, big plot holes in between you can fill the gaps with spoilers or going to read the novels bc nothing here is simple and linear 😂

Oh, Justice in the Dark, for that one they just stopped releasing it and cancelled everything related; we had to wait a year for Japan to buy the rights and air it on their platform to be able to see that drama.
But well, JITD is a censored adaptation of a bl novel so I never had much hope for it to see the light.

If I have to guess, the censorship with this one is so heavy precisely becasue ZXC acted in a censored bl adaptation and China kind of know that a lot of his fans came from JITD. So they wanted to reduce the skinship to minimun in order to not have fans ships the two characters (which clearly isn't working one bit lol).

I do find the whole ordeal tiring cause censorship is just stupid in my opinion (let people be gay omg who caress) and also people will ship or not ship characters however they like, it's just an impossible thing to control.
Deleting scenes left and right just disrupts the pacing of the story and overall lower the quality of the drama (especially bc what they often use to replace those scenes straight up doesn't make sense most of the time).

Anyhow this is not gonna stop anytime soon so ig we'll need to suffer and console ourselves with the bts footage.

You are in double luck, not only this author is very good at writing interesting character's dynamics, but also because Zhang Xi Cheng And Ding Yu Xi are the best actors they could have choose for their respective roles.
There aren't many actors their ages who got this range in acting.

Anyway, if you're enjoying this, I warmly recommed to recover also the whole main story cause Wu Xie and Zhang Qiling (and Pangzi)'s story will definitely make you go a bit insane.

Tbh the fact they're focusing so much on deleting the scenes of the two male leads together with normal skinship, it almost make it seems like it's a censored adaptation 💀

I mean, its kinda normal for brothers/friends to hug after a whole ordeal like that, won't you think? But apparently china disagrees 😭
