stop comparing, its annoying. Or Im gonna assume ur trying to bank off CY
Did you not read my post, did I not mention CY's character? It's not like my comment had nothing to do with MLC. It's funny how riled up you are when I'm not even a LHY fan, he's not even one of my fave actors, but you just assumed it prematurely. BoY is even one of the recos of MLC. Why do you toxic fans always think everyone is against your giegie? Maybe you should take a page off of Li Lanhua's book and stop attacking people for no reason and move on?
stop comparing, its annoying. Or Im gonna assume ur trying to bank off CY
omg chill? People compare dramas all the time, get used to it. And I didn't even say anything negative about the drama or CY. I even like that dynamic that's why I mentioned it. What an annoying, toxic CY fan
I'm on ep 5 and the dynamic between the leads Li Lan hua and Fang Duo bing remind me so much of the dynamic of the leads in Blood of Youth, Xiao Se and Lei Wu Jie. Cheng Yi even reminds me of Li Hongyi sometimes. Or it's just probably me.
I was surprised that I enjoyed it a lot. It was an interesting story with an unexpected twist ending. But I disagree with some of the comments about the FL here. Was the FL character necessary? They said the character wasn't part of the source book so no, her character wasn't necessary (probably added for the censors). Was the romance between JS and YMQ necessary? Also no, the bromance was bromancing anyway. Was she an annoying, useless, damsel in distress? For me, no. This is where I don't get the hate against her. I liked her spunk, her bravery and she was also very helpful when it came to solving the cases. The hate is probably from those that saw her as "getting in the way" of the bromance. But I liked them as a trio.
+ I really enjoyed the mystery and thriller part of the show. While the mystery part was somewhat predictable at times, it was still entertaining to watch how they arrived at solving those mysteries. And also, how they managed to progress the larger palace mystery until the end was pretty good, it made me want to watch the next episode. +Acting was overall good, although I feel like the ARP works best with a boyish, happy go lucky role like in BoY. I didn't really feel like he was this hardened soldier who grew up in the army. - One of the main disappointments for me since its a huge part of the show and I've seen so many rave about their chemistry, was the romance of the leads. While I did like how they were a great match, both were smart and kind, trusted each other and worked together well, with no misunderstandings and such. But I just didn't feel the romantic chemistry, even with all the intimate scenes. Sometimes it felt too cheesy or even a bit cringe esp when they act romantic right in front of everyone's salad? Not to mention they repeatedly had the leads be interrupted when they're about to kiss or be intimate. It was fun the first time but they used it too many times. Idk, the romance sometimes felt unnecessary. I even liked the chemistry of the 2nd leads, Yan Li and Princess Ning, better and looked forward to them more than the romance between the leads. - Didn't like how some of the cases were resolved, which were too convenient or easy but that's understandable. At times it felt the characters were too preachy or self righteous. But by the ending, I didn't feel like Shen Wan was able to really achieve her original goal of clearing her father's name. Or maybe it just felt rushed to me. = Overall entertaining mystery thriller but the chemistry of the leads was just lacking to me and the romance aspect of the show was not engaging at all.
The mess from the last few episodes aside, ep 30 still gave me more understanding of why RSB has been cold to…
Does she deserve LJL? Now that’s a different discussion. But I just wanted to point out her character’s motivations might be deeper and there’s more depth to her than just saying, that’s how she is .
And she’s kept saying this to LJL, that he doesn’t fit into the Rong husband mold (which is I think why she also likes/loves him) but she’s just being realistic while he’s idealistic (another difference in their personalities maybe). Hopefully their dynamic improves in the last stretch🙏.
The mess from the last few episodes aside, ep 30 still gave me more understanding of why RSB has been cold to LJL and her motivations for pushing him away. My take is that she’s kept her distance because I think after the non-wedding between her and LJL, she decided that they're not meant to be a couple. She wants him to pursue his career and them being together would only hold him back. She also has to prioritize her family and the business which might interfere in their relationship. Even if he explicitly told her he was greedy and wanted both. So the romance seems unbalanced (as so many complaints here), not just because she’s a cold character or whatever but also because she doesn’t want to pursue a relationship with him anymore, hence she keeps pushing him away.
But since partly the reason why she went to the capital is because she can't let go of LJL, I'm hoping to see her finally give in to her feelings and fight for LJL. While the last few episodes had me wanting, esp with the story, I still find myself excited for the last few episodes and wondering how it'll wrap up.
Haha, a lot of comments today. I opened MDL after dinner and saw so many opinions about the romance. Come on,…
Thank you haha! But yeah I get where the complaints are coming from. There are just some who have a specific romantic dynamic that they’re looking for. But (hopefully) I feel like it’s building up that the payoff will be worth it.
And speaking of, OMGGGG I just saw bts clip of a spicy scene between the leads🫣 i cannot freaking wait to see that🫠
Just my two cents on the show at ep 26 so far, and everyone's been talking about the 'unbalanced' romance. I think after the disrupted wedding, their relationship got back to square 1. We're seeing ML pursuing the FL again like in the first few eps with Lu Fusheng but now it's happening again with LJL which some find tiresome. While I also wanted to see more progress in their relationship (and yes more affection FL), I did like how they're working together to solve the issues and cases while still doing some flirting in between. Cmon the dungeon scene?? Even jundai had to look away from the shameless looks between them🤭
And even if I'm not as hyped as before, I'm still hooked enough to be excited for the next eps. I still find the story intriguing and unpredictable enough (even if I've seen many teasers of upcoming eps). I also saw a teaser where FL shows some affection 👀 I hope we see that today and it's the start of more romance to counterbalance all the scheming and the intrigues.
While I think everything @AleksandraSucur and @Jinnie77 have said in response is true, I also think @Ash's main…
It’s precisely the romance that makes me watch cdramas like this😅 but I’m with you in that I don’t need to see that the love between the leads is “balanced”. Can love be measured that way? Idk but anyway, I think they’re showing LJL is the one pursuing her after he left her at the altar. Sure she understands his reasons and the circumstances that led him to not show up for their wedding. But it doesnt remove the hurt she felt so I do see why she needs to see LJL’s commitment first. And yeah, even LJL said that romance isn’t RSB’s priority yet. Having said that, I still do hope to see RSB be more open about her feelings for him. Hopefully we’ll see that in upcoming episodes
Someone said on x, both know something's up but they won't push each other to learn the truth yet. Even RSB didn't…
Yeah exactly and I think there’s some level of trust between them. Even if they sense that there are still secrets, they must trust that the other would have good reasons for keeping them. But I also can’t wait when they both finally come clean and be open to each other fully so their relationship can really progress. I need them to have a happy ending please
Ep 15: Advantage point to RSB. She actually managed to fool LJL this time. Lesson learned —if you’re going…
Someone said on x, both know something's up but they won't push each other to learn the truth yet. Even RSB didn't check the hidden letter that LJL was supposed to send out
I think they are really into each other. But, their professional obligations take precedence.
I think so too. They definitely have feelings but maybe still testing if they can really trust each other amid all the drama and while they're still pursuing their own goals and responsibilities. At the very least, they like each other
