If youre looking for a happy ending do not watch this garbage i just wasted 24 hours of my life. And for the people…
The people is me, I liked this more than Lovely Runner, which I dropped at ep 10. As someone who also loves happy endings, I didn’t care if LR had a happy ending, it was unbearably cringe-y to me so I couldn’t finish it. But yeah, the ending for this one was open-ended and not for people looking for a happy conclusion. I dont know if it will somehow improve your opinion of this drama but the movie version of this ends with a continuation of the umbrella scene. It was probably less than a minute scene but I felt it made up for all the angst from the drama.
What a beautifully written and eloquently said review! Even after watching it 3 times already, you pointed out many details that I hadn't noticed before. Ngl its a long review but it's a thought piece I'm glad I read since it brought me back to when I watched it and now I'm feeling all the feels again!
This was one of those shows that I didn't have much expectations going in but it surprised me by how good it was! I have to say Ouji Suzuka absolutely killed it, so charming and endearing as Soma! And Honoka Matsumoto as Kanoko was the perfect, capable and sensible partner, they complemented each other so well. As everyone is commenting here, it is a rare, hidden gem, which I hope more people can discover! Such a unique, mystery plot in a period setting and the duo's chemistry (wishing there was romance but not necessary) was chef's kiss! Give us a season 2 please🤞🏻
Bullying dramas are really not my type of genre but I watched it because of Ouji Suzuka and he didn't disappoint. Great acting from him and the cast had chemistry. It really made me root for Shimura and his gang. Action scenes were fun to watch and the pacing had me wanting to binge it. However, I would've wanted it to be more grounded in reality and the unnecessary bed scene was so jarring. Nevertheless, I hope there's a season 2, which I'd definitely be seated for.
Gosh that finale😭 It started promising at first but to me it didn't sustain the momentum when it was halfway through. Still persisted because I wanted to see how it would end and ofc because of Issei. But that finale confused me at first, it was wrapped way too quickly, leaving me with more questions than answers. It makes more sense now how it ended, but I still would've wanted a better closure than that.
on episode 3 and its been a fun, easy watch so far! until the bed scene jumpscare. why do jdramas (ones on netflix mostly) always insert an unnecessary, graphic bed scene out of nowhere?? dunno if its in the manwha or webtoon but it was a jumpscare for me. will still push through but its such a turn off ngl
I am glad my review was able to influence your view of this show. Thank you as well for reading my lengthy commentary.…
Him as Hua Biao was such a cutie! 🤭 For me, he got my attention with his Wang Ye from I Am Nobody. Still my fave character of his, and next would be Ji Bozai from LITC. Dunno if xianxia is your genre but I hope you enjoy it if you get around to watching it!
What a comprehensive review! I really liked how you mentioned specific points that made me rethink how I viewed this drama. Also, I'd definitely agree with you on Hou Minghao! This isn't related to the drama or your review, but have you seen Love in the Clouds yet? Its one of my favorite performances of his!
Omfg really!??? I hope we get more second couple omg
They’re going to film it soon since it’s going to be aired in the fall so latter part of the year. I also want to see more of the second couple! But the actress who plays Fumiko, Maika Yamamoto, is pregnant now. I wonder how that will play in s2..
I know I should, thanks for noticing😅 ngl its just funny and entertaining how delusional, unreasonable and nonsensical that person's comments are😁this comment thread is fun as hell lol
Finished ep 3 and its been fun so far! Issei is so fun here, he suits comedy so well! and I really like his chemistry with Anne and the rest of the cast. If only I can binge it but no, have to wait for next week😭
I'm at episode 27 and mostly enjoying the drama, but that plot of her drugging him made me so annoyed. The whole…
This was another scene in the drama that frustrated me. Her drugging him and taking his place, just after she said she'd follow orders and camp rules. And she made that promise after she kidnapped Sui Yuan Qing. Which ofc she also got away with. Can't blame her though because it was his fault for lying about his identity. Not to mention the effort he (and the other soldiers) had to go through to hide his identity, as if they're not in the middle of a war with so many lives at stake. And her kidnapping of the prince and drugging xie zheng could've led to disastrous results but ofc she's so badass she pulled it off and everything eventually turned out well in the end. How convenient😑
They sit with the doors and windows constantly open. I get cold just watching them and constantly saying close…
right, i'm also wondering if they like the cold wind that much😭but even changyu's hair (or bangs) isn't affected by the wind, just yan zheng's bangs and hair😂
I thought it was extra until I saw veil of shadows. It's not just the bangs floating there🤣
I haven't watched VoS yet but I've seen a drama from that same director and i believe he takes aura farming to the next level🤣 but at least that was fantasy. here, i just can't help but take notice, they're really showcasing yan zheng's face😁
It's really hard not to watch this without high expectations, given that it's so hyped and the score so high. I'm only on episode 10 so far and I'm trying not to judge it yet (it's just ok so far) until I finish but I just have to point this out. Yan Zheng's constant wind/fan effect on his bangs keeps taking me out lol😂
Just two episodes in I also feel like I'm literally watching Blood of Youth, with Xiao Se having no martial arts…
Omg exactly, you get me haha! But I didn't even notice the similar filming locations since its been some time since I watched BoY or DY. Haven't watched BR yet.
So finally another rational viewer, who is also just simply making observations and commenting the similarity in both dramas...which aren't necessarily meant to promote those dramas or those actors. But beware, the delusional, card-carrying fandom stans might find your comment too😅
This drama has one main love triangle between sml and sfl and ML. (Ml doesnt lkke her)Whats the point of making…
I don't really consider it a legit love triangle since there are no real feelings between the ml and the sfl. The proposed marriage was supposed to be more of a political alliance. And a few episodes later that marriage plan (and I think that potential love triangle) is effectively cancelled. If you want to know who ends up with who, I can spoil it a bit
