Monumental work for Korean independent movies!

Where was I in 2006? Dang, doing stupid things and nowhere close to this gem. You have to grow up to this. And grow up in all senses.

This showed South Korea inside out, not just as gay intolerant and hypocritical mainstream community, but corrupt, patriarch, insensitive, dirty on the inside. And Kpop smile on the outside. (no movie has nothing to do with Kpop, but if you know the industry, you know)

I'll start with the ending. Promise no spoilers, but if you watch close the last 10 minutes could stop at any point. We go from tragedy to triumph every minute of the ending. Director could choose to cut at any moment, and we could have been hysterical regardless. He made a right choice though...right?

The whispering scene (you will know if you watch it): the most magical moment between two humans. We all want a moment like that in our life to remember. What a string to pull!

Story is so...whats the right word? because "raw" doesn't do a true justice. You have to reach a certain point in life to realize that everything we do is based on the trauma of some sorts we had as a child or growing up.

Sets are just faultless and it feels like its part of the emotional rollercoaster this project puts you through.

If you are for quality, this is it!

Top shelf series!

Not your typical BL Drama, its top shelf stuff!

How am I just coming across this and how is this so good?

During the winter in Thailand in 2023 I was stunned that PP Krit is all over the place, and I am not a huge fan of him. After watching this, I am.

Kuddos to the director and the crew- every single person on the set. Nothing but beautiful. High class , set up, story, scenery, acting of the main leads and the support actors. It is nothing like your typical enemies to lovers Thai BL series. They go really deep with teen struggles from all perspectives. From what is the real friendship, true parenting, sexuality from gay and straight perspective, small town upbringing, competition- healthy and not. And all the sacrifice we make to move forward in life, stupid decisions that make us human.

Leads are normal looking teens, for beginner actors they have made this series a perfection wearing emotions on their faces and expressing through intricate body language. It is very obvious that there is so much work was put in into developing the characters. They are intimate without going overboard.

Cinematography is what makes this a true masterpiece. I was drowning in the warmth of the Phuket sunrises and sunsets. Seeing such a beauty in the overrun by tourists small southern town, little details of everyday life.

Chinese influence and idolizing of it is real in Thailand, and the project incorporating that without overpowering feeling.

To catch everything- I watched it twice.

This could have been a masterpiece...

Lets rename this to "Walled Jim, Cat Commercial, Slutty Wen and the best teen romance". I am never harsh on anything, but I had such a high expectation from this project.

For such a high level cinematography it was poorly written. Who came up with the story? The dialogues? How was this person allowed to touch the production. The fact that the support couple absolutely stole the show without getting undressed is telling that two different people scripted this. Yes the whole visual execution and sound is top notch, the rest is alright. And yes, teens stole the show hands down.

Jim - the main character is too complex. The speed that he takes his shirt off and builds his wall up is not even cute, but annoying. I was expecting more from Earth to bring to the show.

Wen- second main character is summarized in that popular song "Im just thinking with my D, my sh$t dumb". And if "I don't get what I want, I will make everyone else miserable".

But then these is a second lead couple- beautiful teens doing beautiful teen stuff. Cut everything else out.

Every Drama Series Serves its Purpose...

For me this one was the healing one. This is second ever watched BL series and it came in the right time specifically for me. So I am very subjective here. I loved every second of it.

However objectively it is well done in manga style, with silly moments that don't require top acting skills. The main leads are young Jpop stars and it shows right away. However the support team are professional actors that did not steal the spotlight, but enhanced overall quality of the series.

Cinematography and overall production is great quality. If you are in need of some healing series- this is it. Takara's smile, confidence and love will get you hooked from ep 1, and OMG Amagi! We are all a little bit Amagi in this world

What a "time bomb" for Chinese Entertainment Industry

The fact it came out in 2016, filmed in 2015 and probably planned for a few years prior! This was filmed and partially aired in the communist state where anything sex, and even more gay is an untouchable taboo. I did not come across to this masterpiece until 2023. Everything about this project is perfect: statement, chemistry, production, acting! Very young and prominent models at that time participated in this is mind blowing. They were prosecuted and banned from being in the same space for 8 years in and out of China. Does it add spice to the project, yes it does. It created a very special fandom for the leads, and to be honest I am one of them. And it obviously paved the way to others to defy the laws and express true feelings.

For production: director and producers must have invested so much, including their own safety making this. The feel of small school in big city is so real with all its strictness,, uniforms and tense hormonal teens. small details of suburban China households, fire stoves, worn-out bicycles, wall paper, street food.

Acting is as expected, but the tension and chemistry are overpowering. Dialogues like: "you are crazy, go take some medicine!---but you are my medicine" or "Why are you eating my food?---It makes me happy" just precious but do not come across cheesy and are lost in actions and story. But they leave a very sweet aftertaste of wanting to be connected to someone on that level.

OST: all I can say, please make sure you are watching the extended version, because the surrender scene with "I am giving in" is just magnificent.

Highly recommend for anyone who needs some dopamine healing in their life.

If you are on the fence, just do it!

KBL is known for its good stories but frustrating execution. This one is actually has a lot of potential.

Cinematography is good, transitions are made well, alright acting- not a bad recipe for a good BL romance.

High School heart throb growing into workplace love story. Both characters are not that complex and easy to read. You are given all the spoilers right there. If you are looking for simple and romantic story- this is it. You will enjoy it. I strangly did and looking forward finishing this on a good note.
