Given the other responses i am not sure my opinion and comment would represent your thoughts. I mean, if you decide to watch it you may feel iI was way off. So I am giving fair warning that I do not intend to misled but that this is what I personally took away from the series which plenty of others disagreed with . I feel like SML genuinely cared for FL. He sacrificed himself for her. He protected her. And he tried to take care of her, like making sure she had what she needed, etc. he was there when ML was not on occasions. I didn't get the sense that he was pushy, like he did not prevent FL from seeing ML. And yes FL did not avoid SML either. I guess i was coming from a view that if you genuinely like someone and truly believe that the person that someone likes did not take care of the person you like, would you stay away out of respect versus trying to take care of the person you like? As long as you’re not actively trying to break them up, wouldn’t it be okay to be there as a friend although inside you wanted to be more that just friends? Again I may be completely flawed in my feelings and interpretation of whats happening in the series. Everyone is free to have their own opinions.

Omg i didnt think there was another person who shared my feeling about lighter and princess. I left a negative comment about how FL was such a doormat and you should see how many responses i got bashing me about it.
I laughed so hard multiple times watching the last episode. The tik tok style montage of proposals were so cute. The way they both acted when grandma came to grab her away was hilarious. And love she was the one who wanted them to do more than sleeping when he was afraid she would hurt herself in childbirth. Oh and the topic of maternity and paternity leave was progressively refreshing. What a great drama.
My opinion might be unpopular here considering majority seems to love this drama. To me the drama is okay but i couldnt stand how much of a doormat Zhu Yun was. Ive seen other dramas where the male was cold or a troubled character and the FL showed unwavering support without being a doormat. But this one was so pathetic. She was completely abused and showed absolutely no backbone. The scene where he was mocking her in front of all those people about how she was pursuing and confessing to him was beautifully filmed because i could sense how hurt she was. But then i was extremely disappointed when afterwards she acted like nothing happened with him. That was the last straw for me. She didn't have enough self respect to be humiliated like that and still chased him, why would he or anyone respect her? That was whats so off putting about what’s supposed to be a beautiful love story.
I found Qin Ge character to be very annoying when she wasn't all serious. I enjoyed the scenes when she was all subdued and talked about her condition. But then she acted very childishly and not consistent with the serious part. I also missed the background on why ML was immediately pursued her again. There was no indication he was trying to look for her in the past 8 years. And again the way FL acted was very annoying when they met again, not consistent with someone who felt she had to leave because she had a condition vs someone who left because she wanted to.
Ah the music playing when they slept together sounded so familiar and finally i remember it was the same song from A Female Arrives at Imperial College. Pretty song though.
