Looking through the comments, I noticed that a lot of people were expecting more "drama" irrational villains, toxic relationships, and unnecessary misunderstandings. But this is a wise and thoughtful drama. Every character has their own ambitions and beliefs, and their actions make sense from their perspective. To me, nothing felt forced just to create conflict. what I really loved is that despite being a slow burn, i wasnt bored at all until the end. the pacing is calm, every scene remained enganging bcs the emotional tension came from the characters themselves. its defo a drama for people who enjoy slice of life stores. I also noticed subtle Buddhist theme throughtout the drama, which I believed added another layer to the story. the Empress dowager was a feminist ideals, but the drama also reminds us that regardless of gender, sacrificing other to achieve ur ambitions is never justified. both leads are beyond amazing. Bai Lu did such a great job portraying Ali. this role actually made me admire her even more *happy tears* shes truly one of the best in the industry!
I think Mimi is such a troublemaker. I'm so done with hostage-taking scenes. That's literally the most annoying part for me. I don't mind the leads lacking chemistry, cause the romance between the ML and SheEr was so damn good. His character plays a big part imo. Everyone else were so nice :")
"I want to live six years longer than you, so I can love you for another six years." Girll I cried, that is so touching. SangYan is def something else, I couldn't even see his moves coming. he is smooth af loll..
I can't help but think I've read about this kinda plot somewhere in the manhwa universe. And I feel like im watching the real-life version of it, but soooooo much better. Those visual leads are beyond beautiful. The plot is getting better and better. I haven't hated anyone in this drama, and I'm enjoying it so much. So far this is a 10/10
Damn, I swear without Bailu this drama would’ve been a failure. I mean, I don’t mind dramas with little intimacy, but I can’t unsee how timid Allen was in some scenes. No matter how good he is, even with the cover-up editing, the vibe he gives is undeniably restrained. This drama would’ve been so much greater with a bit more intimacy involved. I’m not saying they don’t have chemistry, but just imagine how great it would be with one passionate kiss :") but still this s2 give me so much healing from one and only.
the romance part were fantastic but the politics were driving me crazy. its sooo hard to give this a 9 bcs it was ridiculous to see the palace dramas. but everything else literally everything, the leads, the supporting leads, cinematography, bgm were so beautiful it is truly worth watching! the slow burn omg the fact that they only go as far as gazing and hugging were driving me nuts. but i enjoyed it a lot!!
so slow paced. I enjoyed all the conflicts and storyline. But damn, I was so relieved i could finally finish it. it was too long for idk what reasons.. nevertheless, the storyline is top notch, very unusual
Leads have amazing chemistry, and their acting woww! They are really good at crying and being desperately in love, which is so sweet! Kudos to whoever made the osts cause again WOW.
FL here don't know anything, absolute dumb and think she knows everything meddling in everyone's business then…
I'm with you on this! I think its been 2months since i started watching this and because of her it is so hard for me to finish this drama. She's bright, but her brash manner makes it hard to focus on her intelligence. I feel like she went out into the world too soon.. shes still so young and her mother wasnt helping her at all..
I feel like the story gets kinda mid in the middle toward the end. Its the classic problem of having a ML that’s too powerful. Suddenly, all the plot holes start showing. Some of his decisions would have been way easier if he just used the abilities he already had. Like… instead of using the truth spell (which he used constantly on the FL), why did he decide to enter Shi Qian Du’s dream with her?? I felt the misunderstanding was unnecessary.. But I get it.. this drama wouldn’t be 33eps if everything went too smoothly. Also, its so weird how the FL remembered her modern world but didn’t remember the immortal world when she lost her memory. Or am I just clueless about how Xianxia logic works? I swear I was about to throw a fit if her memory loss dragged on, but when he said she deserved to move at her own pace… I melted instantly. Girl you won in life. He fell so hard for her, and their love just develops so naturally. Their romance is deep, and their intimacy? Top tier. You rarely see it that good in C-dramas!
There are some actors that (i swear I trieddddd many times to watch) I just cant watch their dramas. The vibes they are giving are just not it for me, and that includes Lee Jong Suk. But my fav actor JJH is in it, im so thorn. I agree the cast are amazing, but idkkk.. I feel like SMA face is too cute to play Navier.. lets see how she is going to play it out
The cast lineup is insanely good. I don’t know how they managed to bring together so many veteran actors for such a simple, almost generic romance drama but they pulled it off amazingly. Without these great actors, the story would’ve been just mediocre. And omg, I really missed seeing Ju Ji-hoon play a lovesick fool like this! He’s amazing
It’s been so long since I enjoy this kind of drama.. you can almost predict whats gonna happen, and tbh yes i noticed the plot holes. But its fun and heavy at the same time, its quite balance and fast paced as well! its a typical period drama, where they show us the bad guy in the first episode. thus, im just going to enioy how the story will unfold and their bickerings loll!! and oh my god i love their osts!!!
