People are just used to the troupes. And they still complain if it was used. So there is no perfect series. Just…
Yes. those tug at the heart strings lines and moments. I needed those here. Agree. There is no perfect series. I guess the right amount of plot device at the right setting should push the story along more.
So sad how we need to wait till next year for another TSY drama.
Just finished this. I waited until the long weekend to finish the last 7 episodes. Giving my final two cents on this drama.
I get why this drama got a lot of flak for being boring and slow. I love TSY and I found I had to force myself to power through some of the scenes. Most of the time, we didn't have enough fluff or lovey dovey everyday scenes of the CP. But the drama is 75% made of these. And I think that's the main reason why some gave up on the series or gave it a low rating. We want sweet scenes but not a drama full of them. Now I understand why the scriptwriters almost always wait until close to the ending to have the ML and FL together. If you do it early the audience will lose interest after a while.
I haven't seen any JBR drama till this year. A League of Noblemen (dropped after 5 episodes) because of Song Wei Long. I love JBR in it but it wasn't enough to make me stay.
I love JBR and TSY CP. I must admit I can't decide which TSY CP is best. But my top three are with RJL in Under the Power, with WK in Flight to You and this.
Oh and Ep 30 was necessary. I've read some posts that said it wasn't. It was. Very. Needed. It' really brought the story full circle because it showed both POV. And that it was LYC who liked her first and did everything he could to get GX's attention. That part I really liked.
I still give this drama a 10 because I"m biased and we got to see so many sweet scenes that we never got to see in any other TSY dramas and the scenery. I seriously want to go to Xinjiang because of RH. I wasn't disappointed with the drama. I kinda had the feeling it was going to be a romance with not much ups and downs. At least we didn't have a lot of the trophy cliche storylines to move the drama forward. But that's also why this drama didn't garner as much interest. Because those tropes and cliches are there for a reason. And we watch dramas to be entertained. This is entertaining. But not captivating. The HOOK Is there. We needed more to keep us hanging on to the HOOK.
Just finished watching this yesterday after seeing some comments online. I love the leads. The story is very cliched but I LOVE IT. Short, and fast paced. You don't even have time to think logically. Just watch and enjoy. This gave me 90s drama vibes. I'm still sad about that part in ep 27 and the ending. But I can look past it and enjoy the rest of the short drama. In my mind, the ending was when they got together. ❤️ CP is totally giving me the feels and I want them together again and in more drama.
While there's only one song OST, I love it to bits. The lyrics, the melody, totally fitting.
Loving this drama and I"m sad that we're down to the last 10 episodes. While this isn't the typical rollercoaster type of drama, there's beauty in the story. It's very quiet and sedate. But it shows mature love, being understanding and considerate to each other, letting go of pride and being resolute. Once they understood they wanted to be together again, it was all system ago.
I've rewatched some scenes and I can imagine rewatching the whole thing many times. I pick up some more that I didn't notice before. It's quite subtle and nuanced that you have to rewatch again to discover things you didn't pick up before.
I actually like this drama more than Flight to You. While FTY had a more riveting plot, there were more areas in the story that I was disappointed in and found illogical. I lived for Gu Nan Ting and Cheng Xiao interactions but they didn't have much sweet moments. There were parts that I fast forwarded especially the last episode. But Road Home, no forward. none at all. I love everything about this. Simple, sweet love story. What more could you ask for.
They don't even hug after they see each other after a long time. Sometimes she back hugs him afterwards, but the…
I was thinking to myself while watching yesterday's episode that his love language is service. Maybe GX's is words of affirmation and physical touch. I"m just guessing here.
"Barely ever kiss" did we watch the same episodes, haha. They kiss more than I have seen other main characters…
Totally agree. I've lost count the number of kisses in this drama. It's tame compared to Western standards but this is waaaaaay more than what we see in C dramas. I'm still quite satisfied. :)
I think it’s about the pace.. not everyone likes a slow pace drama
I get that it's not fast paced but every time the episode finishes, I'm like what? Done already? That was fast. Anyway, I love this drama the way it is.
Welcome.! Same for me : watched all those and liked them all, so it was Tan Songyun's name in the cast which attracted…
I have to admit I'm quite picky with what I watch. It all depends if I like the story or the actor/actress. Seven is one of my must watch. I actually stopped watching dramas for like 10 years. Picked it up again last year when I saw the trailer for My Sassy Princess with Yuan Bing Yuan and Zheng Ye Cheng.
Long time lurker. First time poster. It took Road Home to push me to sign up to MDL. The last time I was so into a drama was..... Flight to You. No surprise. haha. I became a fan of Seven Tan last year when I watched Master of My Own. I've since watched her other dramas like Under the Power, Go Ahead, and The Sword and Brocade.
This is such a sweet sweet drama. The cinematography is amazing. This story is not in your face like most dramas out there. It's very simple and sincere in what it tries to evoke. It's not going to be scandalous or outrageous because it's not meant to be that way. I find I like it even more because of the positive vibes it tries to pass on to the viewers. Nobody's life is perfect. It's what you make of it that shows how you try to improve yourself and/or situation.

Can't wait for more episodes.
