I love a drama with a strong, composed FL who takes control of her fate. I guess the only thing i have to really suspend my disbelief for is why the scumbag husband leaves her in the first place…the green tea is rarely ever close to being as interesting as the FL. XD

Bailu’s earlier works include modern drama like Arsenal, Love is Sweet and Only for Love, so she is merely returning to the genre. I’ll definitely try to give this one a try. It being a short series too…

I thought she was fine. Is it strange to nitpick her accent/dialect in a fantasy show about supernatural forces? Doesn’t that seem like criticizing the ghosts for not being ghosty enough? idk seems like needless criticism to me but I respect her measured response.

I really wonder why those 7 episodes were cut and if that would've made any difference in people's reactions to the show--it really sounds like they cut too much and made it a mess when it could've been a more promising and memorable series.

i really tried to resist this show knowing how dark and disturbing the novel is. I know the show was rewritten to make it more appealing to a general audience (and censorship of course) but i saw some of the BTS and teasers and it was still unsettling to me but the newest trailer hooked me so i guess i will be giving this a try…

just one thing to clarify is that Xihe is still Xihe. She has merged memories with Gu Qingzhi but she is not her so she still has no relationship with Prince Xin…she just knows what he’s about and doesn’t like him either.

Fan Shuai Qi is stunning as both genders. Not kidding, she is beautiful and handsome.

I hate how AI is being forced into everything. It is very gimmicky and unnecessary.

I like Yang Zi and thought she portrayed Li Zhen well. i was hoping that The Heir would be for Chinese ink what the show Glory became for chinese tea. That latter had an over-the-top story full of twists and turns but also took time to give the audience “tea facts” to explain the history and reality of the tea business. It was highly entertaining and made me appreciative of tea and what it takes to grow harvest and sell it. The Heir unfortunately fell short of that. A combination of slow pacing and a bit of a meandering story disappointed me a bit in the end.

I think it’s funny to watch ML and his sidekick (at least in these early episodes) scheme like they’re in their own little world—a bit overconfident and a bit delusional about what they are actually accomplishing. I also feel like he doesn’t need to do the things he’s doing to get close to the FL because she is already half way there in thinking she should align with him (even though a lot of it is his illness and her thinking he doesn’t have long to live) 😅
