as long as you added it to your watch list, you can rate it. you don't have to rate each episode. it's the score you gave the drama. anyone can just give it a score whether they watched it or not.

7.8 haters are really at work.
you mean the 1 star haters. it doesn't take too many. they can be users who dropped, on hold, or plan to watch, anyone can rate the drama even if they don't watch it

While you’ve got a drama with no completed users and the currently watching average below 8, the overall displayed score still jumps to 8.4. It’s likely that the “Plan to Watch” users are giving it 10s.

On Douban, I’ve never seen Xu Kai’s dramas get those walls of perfect 5‑star ratings, but I do see that happen with other popular actors or highly anticipated dramas—even when they aren’t inundated with 1‑star reviews. Douban does try to remove fake ratings, but I doubt the system is perfect. Xu Kai’s dramas don’t get flooded with extreme 5s or 1s, yet they still seem to receive more 1-star ratings than average, which pulls the overall score down.

Oh, so it's 7.4 now, or is that a blip? The display score cannot exceed the completed score, but there are only 79 users. You only need 10 one‑star ratings out of the 79 completed to drop the completed score to 7.5. MDL is so biased. Other dramas don’t get this treatment. You’ve got other dramas airing with “currently watching” well below an 8, and they display a score well above 8 for the entire airing. That influences raters — it’s like a self‑fulfilling prophecy.

There are 79 completed scores out of 620 currently watching. Unless you paid for express, the last two episodes haven’t aired yet, so there are still two more days until completion.

The 7.8 comes from only 199 users, which includes 79 completed at 7.5 and 57 who dropped it at 2.3. So if you only watched one episode, you could still rate the drama with 1 or 2 stars.
All you really need is 10% of the 620 currently watching to give it a 1‑star to drop it to 8, and similarly for the 79 completed ratings at 7.5. Anyone can rate it even if they are on hold or plan to watch; most likely the 199 ratings come from those who have completed it or are currently watching.

Looks like FI is under White Night 🙂
ok then it won't be affected by the freeze as much. hopefully, it will come soon.
White Night is Youku's premium suspense/crime brand. Hopefully, that means more promotion.

Person Xu Kai
Is this confirm or just a rumor?
She says she got it off the news. She’s focused on how the regulatory changes (NRTA) will affect actors, separate from the economic downturn and impact of vertical dramas on the industry. The 30% is a generalization. Pay cuts are happening, but they vary a lot. With only 27 or 28 productions in Q1 2026, that's like a 50% decline. The report is saying NRTA - the main government regulator for television, radio, online streaming, and all audiovisual content in China want "political cleanliness" above anything else including acting abilities. I'm not sure why she's posting it here. Xu Kai's dramas are getting released.

"Even after marrying her best friend and becoming the father of Chen Hui, he never fully let go of his feelings for his late fiancée. He loves his family, but a part of his heart has always remained elsewhere. Now, as he investigates her death, it’s unclear whether he’s driven by his unwavering dedication as a policeman who refuses to leave any case unresolved, or by a deeper, unresolved love that won’t let him rest until he uncovers the truth."

It feels like the score is heading below 7.9 because more often than not when the score is below 8.3, the completed is lower than the currently watching, and the score they put up is lower than the completed and usually by 0.3, I'm not surprised, I was expecting 7.8 from MDL.

MDL ends up influencing watchers: the early score shapes expectations, and MDL decides which number appears at each stage.

Xu Kai’s dramas often get this treatment — the score stays lower during airing —

For me, Chen Hui is the emotional core of the story. I'm deeply sad for other characters, but I only cry for Chen Hui. This is a story of a father investigating his own son, so Chen Hui is the pivot point of the whole story and the person whose actions force the moral and emotional crisis. Every choice he makes tightens the noose around the entire family. Chen Hui is the one who bleeds on screen — flawed, human, and tragic. Chen Hui isn’t just in the crisis — he is the crisis.

In other dramas they darken the skin too, and I don’t recall anyone saying it could be harmful—because if it were, their marketing will definitely mention it. But for this drama, they specifically pointed out that the process was different and harsh due to the high alcohol content. Hopefully any effects are only temporary.

The case was wrapping up but the father has to notice a new clue. His son is not well, and he is stuck on a clue he can't even remember and the case has wrapped. If only he weren’t so good at his job. Even Li Min told him, he should pay more attention to what's going on at home.

The music at the start of every episode sets the mood. It fits so well. This is a heavy story. It's impossible not to feel tears when you watch this drama.

Isn’t that tanning method made with a lot of alcohol that can damage the skin? From the way it was described, it sounded like they used a much harsher process than what’s normally done.
