The novel version may actually be more controversial and polarizing and have less appeal. The drama version is tastefully and beautifully done like an urban fairy tale against a business setting and easy on the eyes, mind, and heart.

I thought HT invested in it to kill any and all potential competition against his investment in Hanhai and to use it as a front, so no one suspects his investment in Hanhai. If not for Ji Xing, whether he invested in it or not, he would find a way to kill XingChen. He was able to achieve his business strategy and save her startup. I don't know why Deng Zi knew about Hanhai but HT cannot disclose all of his business dealings to JX. ZD said that HT invested in Hanhai back in Germany. ZD did not go into those areas because she knew Hanhai was backed by HT and didnt' want to be destroy by HT. Later, JX started up a company that competed with Hanhai. Apparently, XingChen is moving faster than expected, so he has to do the merger sooner.

Zeng Di is trapped in love. The actress who portrays Zeng Di has done a marvelous job. She may be a supporting role, but her character is very important to the story, and her amount of screen time is just right. I noticed her acting in WOL too.
