There is an intergenerational gap between mother and daughter. It's natural that mother will nag her. The mother comes from a whole different world perspective. The gap is not just their age differences, but also their differences in culture, education, technology, finances, and just about everything else. The mother daughter does not understand each other because they don't really talk to each other. One nags, the other obeys. As MCH said to YZM, it's a love hate relationship. It's not until the end of the drama when the daughter can visit her mother's childhood past, that she understands her mother and the two finally come to terms with each other.

I was really surprised that the father was so sincere. The drama made the father out to be a horrible person, so I was not expecting it. He was actually a nice man, interesting character, and full of personality, and he actually is not rotten all the way through, he actually has a good heart. The drama does not explain his past life, so I don't know how a man like him with grandma for a mother ended up so bad but when he got of prison, he is still a jerk outwardly, but inwardly, he has a good heart. They made him so nice and then they made YZM changed his heart toward his father and was happy to have him back, then suddenly out of nowhere, he gets hit by a car in the most heartbreaking way. When the car hit him, he was lying in a pool of blood, I was in horror. I was just as devasted as YZM, how cruel life is to him. But of course, the drama was always about him finding a home with the Mai family, so despite the missed opportunity with his father, he is very happy to find a loving family. There is such a compelling story of YZM life that left me wanting to know more about his past.

YZM is not perfect. He used to be selfish and cold. He came back for hotel, not grandma. He resented his grandma for a long time, and never forgave his dad, until it was too late. By the time, he realized his dad changed, it was his own bitterness that wouldn't allow him to change.

I just remember how his fingers were trembling too. There was so much to XK expressions in his eyes, mouth, etc. and body language in these scenes. But I won't watch it again, it's way too sad.

There are different acting styles and no wrong style of acting. Actors use more than one style depending on what is required. Some actors are more forced acting, while others are more low key, natural, subtle and nuanced which is how I see Xu Kai acting style and it seems to suit him well. Which style of acting appeals to a viewer is subjective to their tastes. For example, the fl, LSS, in AJTL, I read someone described her acting as "wooden' but oh my gosh, she is so expressive to me.

Of course, there are more than plenty of audiences who don't like XK acting and that is normal. I only read comments from Douban and off You Tube. Everyone has their tastes. We're all drawn to different things. Thanks for your comments.

The scenes between the father and son were particularly impactful and memorable. Their dialogue was profound uncovering layers of their complex relationship. The emotional depth of these interactions resonated strongly with me.

The actor who played Zhiming's father performed really well. I thought I'd despise the character for what he did, but he turned out to be an interesting and even likable character. The actor was masterful in portraying the father with a lot of depth and complexity in such a brief screen time. It just shows that you don't need a lot of screen time if the scenes are well written, well-acted with deep expressions and meaningful dialogues. More screen time doesn't always translate to more meaning. Brief but powerful can sometimes be more impactful and memorable.

Powerful, poignant, and emotionally charged scenes masterfully acted: I rewatched ep. 33 and 34 of YZM dealing with [spoiler]. It's too heart-wrenching to rewatch again. YZM is paralyzed with shock and disbelief. Devastated and overcome with helplessness, he tries to process what just happened. XK encapsulated the complex emotions from shock to grief to healing and self-discovery from the buried trauma of the deep emotional wounds suppressed over time to the realization that his [spoiler] had changed but it was him who hadn't change which added immense guilt and regret to the grief of [spoiler] just when he wanted his [spoiler]. Curled up on the sofa, emotionally frozen, devoid of vitality, his eyes fixed downward and staring into the abyss, disconnected from the present, lost in thought and memories, retreat from the world, seeking solace in solitude. At the sound of "home", his eyes, once fixed downward and frozen, finally stirred. A spark of life returned. Later, as he ate the bowl of noodles, he no longer could hold back the pent-up emotions. The tears dammed up inside unleashed. The act of emotional release gave way to uncontrolled crying. The support of MCH and her parents care and the bowl of noodles finally gave him a way to release his emotions and gave him the strength to move on. Later, MCH said that her mother considers him her son, and that her family is his family now. YZM looked at her with a sense of solace.

I had no motives in mentioning S.Korea which is why I will delete my post. Overall, I found the drama entertaining and like family theme of putting an importance on family.

I found the writer's interpretation of YZM wiping the dirt off his shoes on his trousers at the market interesting because when I watched it, I remember thinking OK so what, why are they showing him doing that. Now I understand it's symbolism to show that YZM has integrated into the world. He is no longer that cold CEO when someone spilled coffee on his sleeve, he easily was agitated. He is now a new person who has taken shackles off and is free to enjoy life to its fullest, no longer allow small incidents like dirt on his shoes can easily be wiped on his trousers is acceptable now. freedom instead of feeling uptight. What a great feeling that is to be so free.
