I don’t think Xu Kai is unusual just because he does rom‑coms — his peers in idol dramas take on similar roles. What stands out is how he plays them; even in light rom‑coms, he gives his characters a more real, human feeling instead of the typical cookie‑cutter vibe. And recently, among his idol‑drama peers, he’s the only one who’s taken on a gritty criminal role like Chen Hui, a character who deserved the death penalty. That shows he’s willing to take risks and challenge himself.
Yeah, except that's not what we were discussing, was it?Whenever someone came to spew unnecessary hate on Xu Kai,…
You didn’t miss anything — it’s just the same old stuff that pops up here from time to time. If you’re going to stick around this page, you just kind of have to get used to it. There are definitely different Xu Kai crowds around here, but at the end of the day, there’s only one Xu Kai page. My original intent coming here was I thought I could learn more about Xu Kai from his fans, not doubt.
No kidding — this director has a whole lineup of major hits under her belt, from Legend of the Condor Heroes (2008) and Chinese Paladin (2009) to Scarlet Heart (2011), Sound of the Desert (2014), Journey of Flower (2015), Eternal Love (2017), and Love and Destiny (2019). She’s worked with top stars like Hu Ge and Liu Shishi. She’s absolutely a heavyweight. I think it was Scarlet Heart that propelled Liu ShiShi to stardom. This director collaborated many times with another heavy weight director, Lee Kwok Lap, who directed the 2005 Chinese Paladin that launched the careers of Hu Ge and Liu Yifei.
I think some actors really need constant acting lessons and classes, like am watching this drama and one thing…
She has multiple personalities. Some think she has seven personalities. Not an easy character to play and to have to play it with subtlety. The only actor I'm not too keen on is 2ML, but maybe I"m just not into his character.
I'm going to start watching other dramas by this screenwriter. With TFJ, I've watched three of her dramas: Love…
The screenwriter wrote three dramas with Bai Lu as the female lead: Arsenal Military Academy, Feud, and The First Jasmine. Princess Agents, a massive hit, was her original creation (she later admitted to plagiarism in the novel and removed the copied content). She was credited on the drama, but she wasn’t the sole or main screenwriter. Arsenal Military Academy is her first known screenwriting work as the main writer (the concept originated from producer Yu Zheng), and it was written before Love and Destiny, a huge hit. She wasn’t the only writer, but she was the lead one. For Feud and The First Jasmine, she is the main screenwriter but has an assistant.
I hope we get to see Ye Li show off her martial art skills and swordsmanship!
I think her months of intensive training for Unveil:Jadewind really benefit here as she filmed this afterwards. She got to put it to good use now that she's avoiding martial arts dramas.
I actually LIKE PRINCE LI ❣️ He has an amazing screen presence as an actor. I feel so sorry for what happened…
he plays a weak man. Just look at the scene of him when he was like 14 yrs old? and how scared he was. Sure, he's a kid and bad people surprise attack on his carriage, but the way he looked, they want to depict him as a person who has always had a weak internal core regardless of his circumstances in life. Hence, he turned out the way he is. But I find his acting too flat because I don't' feel anything after his scenes. It's more like OK I know I'm supposed to feel this way based on his acting, rather than totally forget he's an actor, and just feel his character. I can't seem to get inside this character at all.
I must appreciate whoever was incharge of background score for the drama has done an incredible job. They exactly…
I enjoy those kinds of silent scenes. It plays on your senses. Some find it boring, but those scenes tend to linger in your mind, especially when the actors are good with micro expressions. I think it's a product of good directing, editing, and acting to make it come through.
This is definitely one of Bai Lu’s best performances. Her acting is subtle and elegant, and her character feels like a real person you can believe in. She makes the role both realistic and mysterious, and she gives the character a distinct personality that really stands out.
Theres no problem with his acting at all, I see a lot of comments saying they sympathize with him/understand him…
well that scene he said he was going to jump, he never convinced me he meant it, did he mean it or not? when he said it, I thought oh brother, go ahead and jump, because the way he said, sounded like a kid having a tantrum.
