I saw a video the second ML he’s getting a lot of attention , his star power just shot up for this role. I think he and the actor who played his brother broke through in this drama more than any other performance of their career but that’s not saying they were better than the leads who already had breakthroughs and also gave amazing performances too. For supporting actor or even a leading actor when they have limited screen time or storyline to me it means their performance had to be more impactful for the character to shine through, that is if when they do.

FL 19 ML few years older 3 to 5 years older?

The second leads the appearances of those two fit so so perfect for their roles. They truly looked their parts for the kind of characters they were playing or else the director is a master at creating appearances that fit the moods , or combination of both. The second couple (few other support characters too but definitely second couple by far) elevated the story by a lot.

So far the 9.2 is holding strong. Might even be 9.3?

The way they write those characters like losers you just expect it so I have no emotions over them.

I’m curious why or how does anyone watch 300 cdramas. It seems like a lot. Just watching one is a lot of effort if you don’t understand Chinese. The subtitles cannot capture everything correctly

That’s why they do it. They know trends. It’s done to reach broader audiences. It’s entertainment not their real life. Like some people like horror movies doesn’t mean they want to be scared by others.

I like the pig squad. The characters actually had depth. They had character development and added to her journey.

Story of Yanxi Palace is a traditional historical.

It’s not a typical historical. It’s a historical setting story, fairytale or fantasy like, and romance tension is more like modern romance.

Who would want to kill him? He’s so irrelevant.

Probably not as I totally forgot this scene until you mentioned it again and it lasted just like the comedy about finding a tutor for her, the joke was a bit long too. Must dramas have lighthearted or subtle humor or deadpan kind that is not so obvious and charmingly funny to lighten the mood but this drama, the comedy is outright the exaggerated kind that there’s no doubting it’s a comedy.

The best way to see what actors really look like away from screen is to watch their variety shows.

I’m unable to watch remaining episodes after 31 but you mean they have to bring that loser back. He’s such a boring character. Surely there was better use of screen time then to go back to him. I feel he has no meaning to the story. I could care less what happens to him

He’s a comedy act for the drama. He's the clown.

My least fav character was Mrs Zhou. I just didn’t t feel any emotions from her.

They do it to draw a bigger audience. It’s not so great for fan of ML who watch for them
