It's pretty nuts to think that all these foreign groups duking it out right now all just ended up being assimilated into a larger Han identity. The Manchurians is just the most recent example and I would imagine Tibetans and Uyghurs are next.
I think it's very interesting that Europe used to call China, Cathay and Russia still calls China, Kitay which is related to these Khitan people.
i don't get it, where exactly was the cheating? how can he deny her advances when it's looking like he needs something…
semantics lol.. he clearly wasn't interested in the girl, did not have sex with her and did not enjoy the kiss as well. it's pretty clear he's after her because of what she has to offer him career wise. literally has no interest in the girl but if you want to call it cheating it's cool I guess.

the thing is he would've done the same if it was a guy. you can even argue he puts his work above his wife but cheating? I really don't see it. he obviously neglected his wife but the other girl was not the reason why, it was really the work that made him ignore his wife. so yes, i think calling it cheating is a stretch.
I just want to do a brief analysis on Wang Guang Ming’s cheating behavior, and it should not be generalised…
i don't get it, where exactly was the cheating? how can he deny her advances when it's looking like he needs something from this girl? from my point of view he's just workaholic who wants to advance in whatever he's trying to advance in and he's not good at communicating, but cheating? i saw none of that.
I hate grandma!! She’s like the perfect toxic example of the most toxic elderly figure in Asian family. I really…
it can be abusive if the parents want to hold it above their children's heads. there's just a lot of guilt built into the children that if they deviate from the wants of their parents then they're somehow bad people. but of course the reason the children actually feel guilt is because the parents did indeed sacrifice and gave up a lot for their kids otherwise there wouldn't be this feeling of guilt. there needs to be a balance of the collective and the individual IMO.
bro is anyone as frustrated as i am watching this drama like its schemes after schemes after schemes like brah.…
frr it's just one after another. i was really hoping the scheming could take a back seat to develop the leads relationship for a few episodes, but nope.
his words: She still can't let go after all. It makes me seem shallow in comparison.
i took it as he thinks that the FL's real reason for going to the capital was because she couldn't let go of the ML and that his attempts to get in between them were futile. therefore he's throwing in the towel and want to be supportive of their relationship instead.

filial piety isn't too bad if you have parents that are self aware but if you have manipulative parents then filial piety is a cancer. there's just so many ways for the younger generation to get guilt tripped through filial piety.
