They don't want to admit that Lu Feng is a Sociopath so they're putting all the blame on the younger brother and…
If we analyze it from a very real perspective, I could see from an outsiders pov thinking Yi Chen is a problem because it’s hard to see someone you know continuing to go back to someone who’s abusing them. But that’s the way abuse works. So in the end, he’s still the victim and even if he stepped away and distanced himself, would it have even worked because all this time Lu Feng never lets him get away ultimately.
From a fictional perspective though and keeping the storyline moving forward, it’s frustrating but I still want them to work out even though if this was a real situation I would be screaming for someone to help Yi Chen get away or at least lock up Lu Feng honestly 😭 or even putting myself in the place of Yi Chen, I don’t think I’d be able to ever be truly happy with someone who’s done even half of what Lu Feng has done to Yi Chen.

What if I dislike the brother? Should I get your approval first? 😏People are allowed to have different opinions…
I don’t care whether you like him or not.

I didn’t say people weren’t allowed to have different opinions. From a realistic standpoint though, I am concerned on what people find excusable because blaming an annoying character and hating him far more than the main lead who’s an actual terrible person, felt concerning to me and how their views irl could be. Some people’s comments aren’t just “simply disliking” they’re really extreme. I’m not stopping anyone from sharing their opinions though or trying to morally police anyone, I’m sharing my own thoughts here based off some of the discourse happening.. which is kind of the point of being able to share comments and discuss with others.

I didn’t say anyone needed permission to like or dislike anyone. Even I still like Lu Feng as a fictional character and have still enjoyed the toxicity of this series, as I grew up reading most boy love series displaying nothing but toxic behavior. It’s nothing new. I think what’s important is just remembering it is fictional and I just genuinely hope people wouldn’t excuse this behavior irl because in fandom spaces, that often happens.

I find it really weird that everyone hates the younger brother so much. I understand thinking he’s annoying but in comparison to what Lu Feng has done…. he literally kept Xiao Chen hostage, drugged him and raped him more than once. I enjoy a toxic bl and can understand these are fictional characters but I’m not rooting for a happy ending even though I know we are getting one. I also don’t see how people are putting Xiao Chen on the same level of toxic and blaming him for what’s happened and not the absolute deranged and criminal behavior Lu Feng has done! like yes, everything could’ve been resolved if they both communicated better and Xiao Chen went against what his mother wanted and chose Lu Feng back, but he didn’t and that is nowhere near as bad as what Lu Feng has done. Again, I know it’s fiction and I’m still here and invested but I’m just a little concerned with some people’s reasoning and the way they’re shifting mutual blame on everyone because IF this was real life like how could you genuinely side with an abusive man like Lu Feng? How could you even blame Yichen for any of this other than not communicating and choosing to be with who he loves rather than give his mother her dying wish?
