I think we are just not used to seeing her cold and nonchalant, she’s usually upbeat and cheerful in her dramas. Give it some time

This is one of the aspects Kdramas lose to Cdramas in historical dramas. Kings are usually underdeveloped, annoyingly dumb and made to be too nice to appeal to teenage girl watchers. It gets too unrealistic to watch. Same thing with Dong Yi.
