What this has that LOTFG was missing is charm, well-placed humor, and substance. Also, this drama showcases how normal people (people who weren’t directly involved in plot) were affected during war times which is where LOTFG was lacking. There wasn’t much emotional substance or inlook to normal life (instead it was just focused on the romance between main leads while everyone faded into background) which led to a disconnect and made the story and characters seem artificial and disingenuous.

He didn’t “just finish it”. It was filmed a while ago and hasn’t been released until recently. So it makes sense both dramas are coming out at a similar time.
