I hope they change the whole entire drama in general - the novel was not great. FL deserve way better than ML…
Yeah, the novel is pretty short. Lol I think that is why I was able to get through it.
From the summary, they already changed a lot of stuff. FL never really worked; she was a student. She took odd jobs here and there just to earn enough to buy medicine for her mother. There was no attempted assassination. She tried not to interact with the ML much and when she did she was always respectful but never tried to lead him on.
Definitely should just wait for the drama! I wouldn't recommend reading the novel unless you are really bored.

Lol get ready because you are in for a long one. ML basically fell in love with FL at first sight.
He tried everything to get her to like him (provide medical care for her sick mother, purchase her mother medication, etc..). FL is very thankful but she already has a childhood sweetheart (SML). She's super loyal to SML as they plan to get married after he comes back from abroad. SML comes back and plans to get married FL. When ML finds out he allows his friend to put SML in jail. The only way to release SML is for FL to get together with ML. FL agrees (because she loves SML). ML has a house in the outskirt of town and he has FL move there, leaving her sick mother behind. She gets bullies at this house by his servant, but he doesn't really know since he only comes to see her once in awhile.
Honestly, he has done a lot of horrible things to FL (ex: he attempted to r*** her a few times). The guy never had any trust or communication towards her. I know he loves her, but his love was suffocating. The only thing that is worse or equally as worse as ML was SML. Now, I hated SML with all my gut; the guy is straight trash. Mainly because he treated her equally as bad as ML, but it hurts more because at one point him and FL were lovers.
I saw you are planning to read so I'll just stop there. Lol I could always spoil more if you like, but let's just say it was not a really good book. The ending was even worse. Lol I have no idea why it's popular.
I love CL, so I am literally just planning to watch for him. I'm curious about how they will change his character and the plot.
Thanks but I know where the novel is. I just want someone to tell me the summary of the novel so I can determine if it's worth it for me to even read the novel.
Finally wrapped up all episodes. Honestly I felt like the plot could have been better. It dragged too much towards the end. I am so proud of Ai Mi for her successful first project as FL. Can't wait to see how she grows from here on out
The main couple is perfect, and Su Zaizai is an amazing character. She was the light in Zhang Lurang's life, and…
I felt the same since I watched it when it aired. I stopped and came back later when I learned that they were in college. I genuinely don't like high school dramas anymore since I feel that I'm too old for them (can't relate anymore). Coming back helped, and it's honestly become one of my favorite youth dramas.
It just takes a while for me to stomach it since I wasn't a big fan of the FL's clinginess either (we have seen it too much in other youth dramas). I was like, how is this one any different?
Definitely agreed with the comment on top. If you don't feel it now, don't force it. Try taking a break and come back later.
She looks like she was still acting “Blossom” here. No difference. Same expression.
Lol that was the first drama I thought of. I went back and her makeup is literally the same except that in RR she was even more pale (since her character was supposed to be sick)
It’s not makeup, it’s the character she plays in different dramas. She’s type cast, or just chooses scripts…
Ohh so maybe that's why I struggled with her past dramas. Surprisingly, I would think that the falling in love part will be easier to act, but maybe some actors just struggle making it look natural

Lol Jermey Xu as a ML isn't that great but I actually loved seeing him as a villain. He has that natural masculine villainous aura that transitioned quite well in dramas like this

Exactly! All her popular dramas are her playing someone rich, pretty, and intelligent, which is great, but I would love for her to try something new. I need her to try something more challenging so she's not constantly styling and saying the same lines.
Liking the drama so far but damn MZY needs a new make up artist. She looks the same in all her historical dramas. It's getting harder to distinguish all her dramas apart
I haven't detected anything choppy so far as it is a 1990s coded drama. this is a 10/10 series.
That's awesome that you didn't notice it. I had a really hard time following since they placed a lot of random scenes in without explanation. As a viewer, I find it difficult to follow.
For example, right after the FL noticed that the ML doesn't like anything to do with electricity. We then started to see scenes of the dad abusing the ML. Was this something that FL witnessed in the past? Was this something she saw in the future? What was she doing before she saw the abuse, and what did she do after? What did ML do that the dad thinks that he needed to be abused? We don't know.
The censoring of the dad abusing ML doesn't help this drama much either.
And they do this multiple times through out the few episodes that are out. Usually, I don't mind such things like this as much, but a lot of these events are the explanation/ build up to the plot. The main couple would build off their relationship based on what they witness the other person goes through.
I'm not trying to blame the team too much since I am sure they needed to cut some stuff just to fit the drama into 32 episodes, but I just wished the part the cut wasn't the beginning.
Loving the drama so far, although I think the editing and transitioning could have been better. It felt kind of choppy, which took away from the viewing experience. Hopefully, it gets better in the upcoming episodes.
I have a random question... I was just looking at the ages of the actors in the drama and saw that there is a…
Definitely! I think you and the comment above both made a valid point. It depends on the fandom's mentality and how big they are (a bigger fandom will make more noise).
Also, I think the main point is exactly what you pointed out. It just depends on how mature/ baby face the MLs are to each other and how visually they both are together.
Dilraba looks more mature and carries a more mature vibes, while CFY has a more baby face and carries a more youthful vibes, so some people will mind and say that they don't look good together. CDL has a more youthful look and matches with ZYR even though their age gap is similar to Dilraba and CFY.
All in all, it's just a matter of personal preferences and the toxicity of the fandoms.
