Excellent viewong

Just completed watching Princess Wei Young, another Mandarin costume drama. This time on Netflix. A 54 episodes series of an absolutely absorbing tale of love, treachery, sabotage, edge of the seat stuff. Excellent acting and chemistry of the two leads Luo Jin (dubbed the King of Cry by me from his role in Royal Nirvana) and Tiffany Tang. The two leads also eventually got married in real life ?. The wuxia scenes were also excellent ably supported by a stellar cast with some light hearted and heart warming scenes too. Costumes were exquisite. Background music was also enchanting.

Worth Watching

An absolutely absorbing and riveting love story of 56 episodes entitled Promise of Chang’an worth watching with excellent acting by the leads especially the female lead Sarah Zhao as Helan Mingyu. She epitomises someone that you would want as your wife with her stoic strong character and steadfast. Though many try to do harm to her, she responds with kindness and love. A love story with excellent cast, costumes, music to name a few.
The wuxia was also good . Would definitely look forward to more acting by her in the future.

Interesting so far

The story seems to be on excellent starting footing with action in episode 1. Difficult watching Jin Han as the hero after having just completed Princess Wei Young where he was a very bad villain. Verdict still out as just watching episode 2 now. The premise of the story is also very interesting. Costume quite impressive. Original sound track very haunting. Good wuxia. And acting so far. Characters are also being introduced and storyline being set. The current batch of Mandarin series really is setting the bar on many aspects.
