Watching EP20 and I just had to pause to say this. JI LING AND LU WUYI IS THE CUTEST COUPLE IN CDRAMA EVER! idk how TJR and JJY did it but they manage to give a childish teenage love charm to Ji Ling & Lu Wuyi that doesn’t felt “annoyingly childish” if you get what i mean. It just feels very cute, endearing and innocent instead. <333 They played these characters so well!!
It's hard to describe it without much spoiler but I think you will understand after ep 6..
Thank you! I’ll stick around until Ep6 then. I noticed there’s explanation in the discussion section but i’m afraid to go there coz it looks too spoilery
Can someone roughly describe to me what is JJY’s and TJR’s characters dynamic supposed to be? (but without giving too much spoilers).
From trailer and fan edits i thought they were sort of star-crossed lovers but i’m currently at EP3 and they’re giving 2 cute kids who are slightly mysterious and having a crush on each other
I don’t often agree with AvenueX’s review but this time what she said was spot on about how i felt. watching it “didn’t felt like a total waste of time, but it’s not a time well spent either”.
THE PROS; everyone is an eyecandy! XYH are charming his shenanigans with TianYuan are funny af. Interesting 2nd couple. And Prince Xin & Prince Lie… pathetic as they were in the pursuit of love, somehow the way they wear their hearts on their sleeves kinda makes me wanna root for them.
THE CONS; 1) court politics is pretty much glazed over (they haven’t dive deep into it yet but hopefully they will in the second half). 2) minor plots are “told” to us through SXH/XHY’s subordinates reporting to them rather than “shown”. but i get that there’s lots of ground to cover so they don’t wanna spend screentime on trivial. 3) despite having strong female lead and second lead, the drama is constantly showing women in the position of power pitting themselves against each other instead of uplifting one another. literally all consorts, princesses and noble women somehow are envious or have bad intentions towards SXH. which kinda gets tiring overtime.
I’ve had enough of seeing him play the bad guy (the princess royal, fated hearts, blossoms of power). GIVE THIS MAN A GOOD GUY MAIN CHARACTER ROLE PLEEEEASE 😭
The first 2 eps is more slice of life that establishes the dynamic between the 2 main characters, with little bit of plot sprinkled here and there. EP3 onwards is where you’ll start to see the plot moving (and I bet EP6 onwards is when conflict starts.)
EP4 is so beautiful though i get why they made the first 4 eps free and srsly YOU NEED TO STAY UNTIL EP4 POST CREDIT SCENE!!
If anyone’s wondering which chapter in the novel the drama stops at, it’s Chapter 23 and 26! (Obviously in the novel Ch 23 happens before Ch 26, but in the drama Ch 26 happens first before Ch23).
I hope this drama receives the same amount of hype Revenge Love got (so that it gained enough viewership to guarantee…
Also this needs to be said… He Yan Zhao (who play Xia Liuyi) is an extremely good actor and a joy to watch in both humor and angsty scenes! I hope his future is bright
I hope this drama receives the same amount of hype Revenge Love got (so that it gained enough viewership to guarantee profit and investors for Season 2). The production quality and plot/setting truly delivered!
And if anyone don’t feel like starting this cdrama bc they’re afraid on a hanging ending, you’re wrong. IT’S ALL THE MORE REASON TO GO WATCH THIS SHOW to convince the production team there’s enough demand for S2!!
This will be a VERY UNPOPULAR opinion but i hate Aoi. Brilliance doesn’t excuse bitchiness, and there’s a clear difference between being a girl boss and being plain rude (which she is for the most part of the first half of the story). Idk if it’s the actress portrayal or if the script was purposely written that way. But it made me deeply rooting for Arata-Yuko. Though I really don’t quite get why Yuko purposely put herself in a hard situation coz girl there’s plenty of other company to work for!!
TakeRyoma’s acting in this is phenomenal though. Would have been my top fav works of his if not for the ending.
And before anyone come at me i already said i know this is an unpopular opinion.
