Intriguing movie. Somewhat strange and weird selection of images and scenes, put in a nonsensical order, so much so I forgot that the film was supposed to be the gay retelling of Oedipus Rex until the last few minutes. Until then it was a mesmerizing (editing!!!) story of gay boy prostitution told in an original way.
always welcome.depends on it... some things should not be protected... but also a good lesson is not just to consume…
Research? I wonder how many of these young fans ever think of finding out what customs, attitudes, history and beliefs actually mean, while watching these dramas. When I discovered K dramas, I probably spent equal time watching and researching because the societal dynamics are very different from my own and I found them fascinating. History was another rabbit hole i went down.... That is what I love about Asian dramas: I got to know a whole new world I had no connection with previously.
As for cultures, they evolve and need to know when to discard useless and archaic customs and habits without fundamentally changing. It is a very sensitive topic. Anyway, thanks again for the historical note in your review!
When I see this many 10 ratings, I get to be very suspicious about the real quality of the drama. So I would like to thank you for keeping the cool when reviewing this series!
Thank you also for the historical explanation: I was not aware of the depth of the British implication in local cultures. A good lesson: we should all beware of outside influence on our own culture and protect it.
My thoughts exactly. I loved the first half but the second was just as if it were another show altogether("stupid…
True! Undercooked show. I was told to expect fluff and cuteness and we got plenty of those: a whole useless episode. It's such a waste: they had the opportunity to do something extraordinary here, a kind of ghost whisperer story and develop that romance in a novel way. I loved Dao's character, how cool, calm and confident he was. And his deadpan delivery was priceless. While Arthit was a spoiled little brat. And the car race?!? Straight out of Pit Babe or Love In The Air....A total miss, I agree!
Ugh whhhyy do shows forget what makes them unique in the first place??First half was a 10/10, but then it forgot…
My thoughts exactly. I loved the first half but the second was just as if it were another show altogether("stupid red flag" precisely!) and I missed those ghosts. And the last episode: I skipped through it and I never do that!
Merde!🤣🤣You should have put this under the spoiler! I am still watching it and now you've ruined the ending…
It is a very good painting of what the Korean society was like in those days, the corruption, the police violence, the prejudices, the societal hierarchy...I have already seen that in many different K dramas. The one thing that makes this one stand out is that it was based on real events.
I was looking more for a thriller, a chase for the killer and of course, the final surprising reveal. I hoped to get it here what with the film Memories of Murder leaving us with an open ending which was frustrating!
I may pick this one again if I am in the mood for a slice of life drama.....This drama is really well made but not for me at this moment!

True, I started suspecting them immediately alongside the prosecutor, but I could not believe they'd be so obvious. The production are making such an effort to hide the prisoner's face in the present day scenes that I thought there'd be more twists! Thank you for saving me from wasting any more of my time on this.....🥰
Reading about the true story is so frustrating and sad, thinking about all the suffering of the women and children,…
Merde!🤣🤣 You should have put this under the spoiler! I am still watching it and now you've ruined the ending for me, if I am not mistaken! Thanks!😅
PS Yours is a very, very interesting profile page filled with a lot of useful information!
The drama is truly delightful: the banter between the teacher and his student is priceless! And every story has an unexpected twist ending! Loved it!
I only wish dailymotion was cooperating: kissing has become explicit content!!!😱
