Overdue Revenge

Firstly, I am a little bit dissatisfied with how the scriptwriter change so many parts in the drama. What's the point of buying copyright of the novel if you not going to follow it closely? I watched the drama for the sake of dilireba and the casts's effort

I clearly can see that youku seems very unprepared to air the show when first half of the drama was done half-heartedly. From the CGI, the dubbing voice of leads, the subtitles and the promotion. To me, the rumour about the feud between production and youku might be true. It's very unfair for the actors and crews.

When I am reading, I can see the strength coming from female lead and male lead so I was expecting a powerful couple throughout the show however I must admit that I am a little bit disappointed. I know that most of the Ren Anle/ Di Ziyuan's scenes were given to Luo Mingxi and An Ning. Hence, the lack of strength in her character.
Example: The drama failed to show how Ren Anle is given trust by the navy bandits to lead them since she's not the actual Ren descent.
- If they explained the power of Di family and Ren Anle properly, we probably going to witness one of the strongest female lead in history.

Some might say the main leads lack of chemistry but to me they're fine. Maybe the only good thing coming from this drama are them. It's natural to me the way they're falling in love, with Ren Anle's way of flirts and Han Ye being afraid of falling for a female bandit. However, during this part of flirting and falling in love, the scriptwriter again too focused on love/romance that I see most of planning part is handled by Luo Mingxi. So it's understandable that most people thought it's a romantic drama.

There are too many filler and unnecessary scenes in ep 12-20. Who tf wants to know about Di ChengEn? Better use that to capture the Di and Han family's history, and Ren Anle's background. LMAO. As usual, youku being youku.

Other parts that I love is the casts' acting, I can see they really commited and devoted to the show that all the fights and action scenes are done by themselves. Kudos to the actors. Yup, youku and the production should be grateful to them, because they are the one that save this drama.

Nevertheless, it's a good acting with poor script, it's not that worst. That's it.

Bitter sweet family

This story tackled issues happening in family, trauma, childhood, orphan, I think that is why the characters are so relatable realistic for me. Every single characters are struggling with family, friends, career in life including the supporting roles. I enjoy watching the process of their growth and there is slight difference on how they deal with certain issue when they are teens and adults. It shows their maturity here.
In the beginning, I pity He Zi Qiu the most since he was a child and especially when JianJian rejected him and chose Ling Xiao instead cause he went through a lot but he never had 'special' feeling for JianJian. Maybe it was his fear for being second choice and be abandoned during his childhood? Nonetheless, I am loving this part because viewers can realize this. But in later part, you cannot pity only one character because they all went through hardships. I cried every single time Zhang XinCheng cry.
For Ling Xiao. GOSH his spoke through his eyes for so many times. Song wei long did a good job in deliver the unspoken pain of Ling Xiao through his eyes, emotions and gestures. I thought he is the least hurtful character here but when the story unfolds later, he is also hurting.
For JianJian, her existence itself is the rainbow and sunshine not only to her brothers and fathers, but also to us, viewers. Even though, her character started as a cheerful young girl that is careless and shameless HAHAHAH but as she is growing up she is sensible and matured. She knows how to comfort people, she prioritized people. She is a strong girl with high confidence. Praises to Tan Song Yun cause she managed to portray a joyful young teen girl character.
I enjoy the family interaction, and JianJian's friendships.

Perfect female lead and male lead with flaws.

Short review!

To me. this drama is well-known among cdrama watchers. Of course, aside from the top liuliangs played the role I honestly understand why this show is a hit. An aerospace engineer with a female superstar is a weird combination honestly, but I love the dynamics here. No matter what our profession are, love can overcome everything.
To me. Qiao Jingjing is so precious and perfect. We barely seen any female lead character as perfect as she is in cdrama. Usually, it would be a flawless male lead, But here, Jingjing is the one with zero flaws - she has a stable career, she is wise, smart, pretty, high EQ, kind-hearted and everything. I also like how Jingjing is actually very simple-minded despite being a top celebrity
However, for YuTu he is a genius but he lacks in confidence after he grows up due to his occupation and that is totally understandable. He is insecure most of the time so in the plot I can see that he is struggling in half of the series. This is why I said Jingjing is so perfect to me that she will stand by his side and support him. But sadly, he has this prejudices against Jingjing, I think due to his job, past and profession.
Normally, in cdrama male lead would not lack anything. Name it, he has everything from A to Z. This is why I think it is nice to see how he deals with his confidence and insecurity. Actually it can be handled if he has someone to support him because he only needs support and reassurance from people around him and that is when Qiao Jingjing come to the rescue HAHAHHA my beautiful parents :))
YuTu and Qiao Jingjing to me is the definition of a healthy relationship, this is what will happen if a matured and adult couple in a relationship.

Women empowerment & powerful couple in politics

I came across this drama accidentally on IQIYI because Xiao Bai was on it. Honestly, ep 1 was enough to get me hooked and invested in the drama :(
I really love the idea of smart women, and behind every women are actually women ourselves. At first I thought this is about fights between royal harem over the princes but it is so much more than just love and marriages. It tackles issue like forced marriage, gender inequality, post-partum depression, domestic violence, status and position. You would never expect a historical palace cdrama with these themes and you can expect good laugh too! All the leads have solid chemistry and I thought they must have done quite a lot of adlibs because there were so many spontaneous and impromptu scenes LOL.

What I love:
1) Yin Zheng, the sixth prince appeared to be very un-heroic and weak male lead (this is very rare in cdrama scenario) however as the story unfolds, he has so much potential due to his smart and wise thinking in decision making and politics. I love that writer focuses on this side of him. He is also very witty, silly and goofy, but only with Li Wei, 3rd prince, 5th prince and Butler Su.
2) Li Wei. I love her character so much! She knows what she wants, she does not put that aside for love. To her, friendship and the women come first. During that scene where she is willing to let Yin Zheng divorce her as long as she can save Hao jia jie. She is a woman with dreams, high spirited, matured, and smart. This is why she is a match for Yin Zheng even though she is not coming from a powerful family background that can support Yin Zheng. She is an intellectual that will think smarter for any solution to issues faced by Yin Zheng and the women. She is also a foodie HAHAHAHA that makes her 10 times cuter. She is a brave young lady, to her 'do not touch them (people she loves) or you die'. This is so obvious when Hao jia's suicidal attempt and Yin Zheng failed to send her letters.
3) The bromance between Yin Zheng, 3rd prince and 5th prince. 3rd prince is evil to his wives but at least he is very nice and supportive to his brothers HAHAHAHA and the 5th prince is so funny, I love his character. Hence, these differences in characters make their relationship dynamic was so much fun to watch.
4) Sisterhood - their relationship is gold. I love how they unite to beat the nannies HAHAHAH and to fight and beat those rude and useless men in Xinchuan. DEFINITELY EVERYTHING TO ME
5) Sweet relationship between Yin Zheng and Li Wei. they are so fun to watch, ideally it is nice to have a relationship like them. They joke with each other, they make fun of each other, they communicate, they are helpful, they are lovely and adorable couple. Yup Relationship Goal!
6) Smart move in politics.
7) Food from each regions - very creative for the women to establish a restaurant that made food from each regions

Fake dating with enemies to lovers trope

This is definitely not your typical sweet girl next door type of heroine because Yeo Mi Ran is a woman with strong will of justice, a feminist and a smart lawyer. While the male lead, Nam Kang Ho has a painful past that caused him to dislike women. Their first meeting and relationship was started with bad impression towards each other thus it leads to several incidents that forced them to form a contract and start to fake dating.
I found that they are naturally falling in love during their time spent together, and how they slowly open up and remove all the bad judgements about men/women in general. Honestly, I did not think their sorts of interaction is cringe nor awkward because they are adults, in 30s I believe. So, it is common for adult people act that way, and maybe we are too common with teenager sweet and innocent love that we find Mi Ran and Kang Ho's idea of being in love was so awkward to watch. Since it is a rom com with 10 episodes, I think it is well written and fast paced. Yeah, and I also enjoy the second couple's interaction as they are not stealing the main leads story and their story was cute and adorable.
Applause to the writer because they include the issue on misogynism, feminism, patriarchy, narcissism and write in a witty and fun way.
