I had an intense dislike of both the character Sikong Qianluo and the level of acting by the actress played by her in TBOY. Whatever fault or shortcoming the character had both in how she was written and how she was acted now seem inconsequential and irrelevant in comparison to the train wreck that is Yi Wen Jun. After watching this I have lost any remaining sympathy or empathize with her situation. She is horrible both as a mother and a wife. She practically destroyed two families. I think her surviving at the end of TBOY in hindsight was a mistake. She should have been the one that got killed instead of her son.

I was thinking it was a Cheng Yi and Nazha pairing when I saw the cast list. Now I've found out they are playing siblings and Cheng Yi has another FL. Maybe they should put Gulinazha as guest star than billing her as FL.

I wonder what kind of historical revisionism they are going to do this season. The nephew eventually prevailed over his aunt and it was a bad ending for her.

Honestly I've watched most of the Lost Tomb adaptations and now have forgotten most of of the plot. I'm especially hard pressed to remember anything outside the tomb raiding aspects and the mysterious events they encounter. I remember that Ah Ning was always after Wu Xie and Zhang Qi Ling was always played by some eye candy and fresh meat. I think I need to watch this again.

Guo Jing Ming really favors TJR. He already has a Republican drama filming and is rumored to star in 2 more Edward Guo dramas.

There's a lot of Mulan type rehash these days. I'm pretty sure you would enjoy those kinds of ahistorical dramas.

I thought at first the ML was the previous emperor's son or brother but it looks like he is a nephew of the previous emperor.

Consort Xuan was a lot more likeable and relatable from what I remember in Blood of Youth than this wannabe Helen of Troy piece of t*rt.

This is possibly the most flower boys I've ever seen in one drama. Not that I'm complaining but it's very amusing.

They should have dropped all episodes at once so series would have been released completely before being ban.

That last murder mystery got me wrecked. I don't think I've been as sad and touched since watching Goodbye My Princess ending. Great preview *cross fingers* to third season. Surely there is a third season!

The penultimate murder mystery left me unsatisfied because of the morally ambiguous resolution to the murder. The 2 ML have always carried themselves as honest, objective investigators and then all their principles were thrown out because they felt sorry and did a coverup on a vigilante crime.

This love line irked me to no end in season 1 but I have grown to accept it over time. It's something that I could ignore. This relationship felt unnecessary and contrived.

If you are only starting to watch this, don't go perusing the cast list as it reveals major spoilers on the identities of the culprits and personalities in the investigations.

Lu Ling Feng is back to being overbearing and stubborn in this first episodes. I think he might be even more arrogant now than when he was introduced.

I think the writers tried to make an equivalence between the FL grandfather's opposing the emperor early in the drama with her theatrical and absurd dramatic performance in the finale. What a laughable comparison. She just came off as ridiculous and full of herself.

You could almost forget that Shaoyao was ML sister and a member of the imperial family. She look like someone they pick up from the street and she remains that way entire drama. An extra character they inserted for the required second pairing. The 2nd ML they showed in the poster barely shows up and is only there for filler where his scene consists of a shouting match between him and his father.

The most Mary Sue character ever in cdramaland so damn perfect you'll always end up on the wrong side if you decide against her. One of the most laughable example is the FL picking up some illiterate country bumpkin who she turn into an accountant. Her poor aunt became the hapless spectator and the cautionary tale on always following what FL decides.

They spent more time in some baby bathing ritual while glossing over deaths of family members they dislike. WTH I know she was hateful but the eldest daughter of the family died such a shocking death and the family was so nonchalant about it. Both the ML father and his stepmother died and it was just like some random panhandler died, heck he didn't even inform his sister.
