Had a lot of potential but..

Rugal was my first ever Korean drama, as I was scrolling through a site I was able to find it and watch it just as the first episode came out. As a huge fan of action, the plot looked very promising to me, like the first few episodes. I was over the moon because I was finally able to find a show with everything I liked. Or, was I?

Like I mentioned the plot is very promising but it gets tiring and difficult to follow after a while.

1) There was a lot of action. Maybe a little too much. It feels like the writers focused on the action instead of developing the plot nicely. So it became hard to follow, a lot of gaps I couldn't feel because the balance between the action and the development of the plot was lost. The show was fully relying on the fight scenes and, without them, it wouldn't work at all.

2) The characters, none of them really stood out for the sake of making the lead character the hero. Though he was the last one to join the team it felt like he was the most "important" member, soon, everything became about him, the whole plot revolved around him and the characters didn't have time to be developed properly. We have the hero, the tough guy, the tough chick, and the silly guy. It felt cliche and it was written in a way that made me feel like it was a fanfiction.

Overall I wouldn't really recommend it. It was hard for me to finish, I only watched the entire thing for the sake of emptying my to-watch list. If that's your cup of tea then sure, go for it but it was over-all a mediocre drama.

Incredible drama

I started this drama when it first came out and, although i wasn't sure I would enjoy a drama like that,as a plot like this isnt usually my cup of tea,i enjoyed it and I can easily say I regret nothing. As you keep watching you start to discover the dark side of each character,their motives and ambitions so you're always caught off guard. After a few episodes it was really hard for me to wait for the next episode. Another thing I liked was the relationship between the two main characters. They develop a strong friendship, and the female lead doesn't work as a love interest. We see how they get close and their moments together are very heartwarming. Overall I reallt enjoyed this drama,it was a well thought out plot, good acting and a lot of drama.

excellent show with an excellent message

Just when I was in desperate need of something actually good to watch, these two words appeared EVERYWHERE, suddenly everyone had watched this show and was talking about how addicting it is. And they were absolutely not wrong. The plot keeps you on your toes the entire time, even for someone who is struggling to watch one-hour-long episodes. While not necessarily "scary", even if the violence was censored, this show was overwhelming in the best way possible, every single element of the show helped me feel exactly what I was supposed to feel, the anger, the sadness, the fear, and for that, I appreciate it a lot. But the most important thing here is the message. Sure, the plot, the production, the actors, everything was on point but the message was conveyed in such a good way that I was speechless. I think that this is a show definitely worth watching, especially if you are a fan of thrillers, this show will NOT disappoint you at all

incredible

Though I was a bit skeptical about watching this drama as I am really not the biggest fan of Horror, this drama is definitely one of the best shows I have ever watched. It's dark, very dark, and it definitely kept me on my toes the entire time as I wasn't really sure what to do. The plot was incredible with a very very very smart plot twist which had me shocked and in utter disbelief. The acting was brilliant and all actors suited their roles very well. I loved the music and most importantly, the camera work. Very good action scenes as well, it was impossible for me to take my eyes off the screen. If you are looking for a creepy drama with a lot of suspense, this is for you. Even when the plot isn't very "busy" you are always alert, waiting to see what happens next. I definitely wasn't disappointed and I can easily recommend it. Definitely worth watching.

truly one of the best crime dramas I have watched to this day

If you are a huge fan of crime thrillers and things like that you are going to love this! I couldn't have chosen a better cast for this, as the actors did amazing work and had great chemistry between them.
I liked that this show kept me on my toes the entire time, and made me doubt anything and anyone. Truthfully, the plot twists made me regret watching the show while it was airing because I would have to wait another week to find out what happens next. The plot is very smart and well written and so are the characters (especially Jerry, lol). While they do have good intentions they go to extreme lengths for their goals and I loved that. It basically becomes a game of power and you're watching to see who will prevail. I would definitely recommend this.

Simply one of the best shows I have ever seen

I have no words, this show left me speechless. I watched this during the quarantine and WOW is all I have to say..
While I was VERY hesitant about watching it at first as I had no experience with Chinese dramas, and it was too big for my liking, I don't regret anything. Everything about it is perfect, the story line takes your breath away, every single person I have recommended this to was unable to watch JUST ONE episode, myself included, even though I am a person who has a hard time watching more than one episode. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, from anger, to happiness, to sadness and literal crying, this show has everything. The cast could not be better, every actor suits their role perfectly and no one could do a better job. The costumes and the props overall are AMAZING and they make the setting of the drama breathtakingly beautiful. The only one thing I did not like was some of the effects, but believe me, everything else makes up for it perfectly, you will NOT be disappointed.

MUST! WATCH!

Oh! my! god! This was a drama I took my sweet time watching because I didn't want it to end. Personally I have not read the WEBTOON as I was very impatient and I was honestly looking forward to this one so whether it was a good adaptation is up to the readers of the webtoon and I am simply writing this as someone who has watched a lot of shows and dramas.
Not once did I think about dropping it. Horror isn't my thing but not watching this was OUT OF THE QUESTION. As someone who gets bored and tired easily, this wasn't the case with this drama. It constantly kept me on my toes, interested to see what will happen next. So much that this became a problem as I like to watch dramas late at night, but it was too late for me to watch the next episode as much as I wanted to.
The cast was incredible, I loved their acting and I feel like they perfectly fit their roles. The characters had a certain dynamic between them that kept them together during the show, we got to see the bonds that were formed between them and I thought this was incredible. I was a huge fan of the music choices as well, especially the OST (shoutout to bewhy for that!)

the one thing I didn't exactly like was the monsters, especially on the second episode, they could be a lot better but this was more of a budget issue and it did not affect how much I enjoyed the drama. Other than that, this drama is a big YES for me.

loved it

I must admit that at first, I had absolutely no idea what was going on in the drama, while I did know what it was about I could never predict how the season was going to end. How one small detail could change everything although everything seemed to be perfectly under control. I thought I could predict what was going to happen next, but I couldn't. I found the ending very hard to predict, although it perfectly made sense. Very well thought.

One thing I also liked was what the characters were like. None of them were the good guys. Ji Soo was a kid who chose to follow a dark, immoral and illegal path in order to deal with his financial problems, and Gyu Ri was selfish and manipulative, while in most dramas the main characters are the good guys who have to defeat the bad guys, this isn't the case here and it was something I really enjoyed to watch.

wonderful and refreshing drama that has a lot to teach us

Where do I even start? Although this is an ongoing drama and we are still in the middle of it, I thought I should write a review for the people who were thinking about watching it. The answer is: YES.
Although I personally am a person who is into thrillers and action for the most part this show is amazing! Something about this show is extremely refreshing and watching the brilliant and lovely protagonist in action is lovely! She is lovable without being reduced to her autism, a strong and thoughtful individual who proves her worth at all times. The acting is very good and from what I've seen, it's accurate as well. Really helps us see the world from young woo's perspective while it also explores other interesting areas as it also has to do with law. I find this show fascinating and I think that everybody should give it a try!
