It is honestly not necessary at all and can definetly be understood without watching season 1. It has the same concept (i.e parallel universe) however the story line is going to be much different from season 1 as I have read both the novel for season 2 and watched season 1 itself. If you want to give yourself an idea before hand, then you may watch it. Don't worry, I think you will be able to understand it very well even if you don't. Up to you :)

exactly. they kept the concept the same i.e. the parallel universe etc. however if you read the novel, they made it honestly quite different from the original season 1 that is why i think they decided to change the cast as it would be the most reasonable. they only rebooted it because they though it was unfinished (they said it on weibo themselves).

i have seen many people disliking it already cause of the cast change. i am really happy of how it is. hopefully people enjoy it.

Trust me, I usually don't watch dramas with a cliffhanger but this one is definitely different and i actually am happy that the story ended this way and is having a season 2. don't wanna spoil it but trust me, you should definitely go for this one.
