i initally watched this because i was looking for a doctumentary style movie to educate myself on the history of China and their achievements throughout the years, and this movie did not disappoint at all.

the movie contains 7 short stories detailing the lives of chinese individuals who live throughout various momentous periods in Chinese history. although some may argue that this film is just Chinese propoganda, i'd argue back by saying 'so what?', it's just a film made by people who want to show their love for China and their patriotic feelings - there's nothing wrong with that.
all the stories were very moving and at some points made me emotional seeing how much people will do for their homeland, furthermore they all stood out for me and were interesting and distinct enough to the point that they didn't drag on.

the production value is very high and the movie ends with a beautiful ost called '我和我的祖国' (my motherland and me) sung by Chinese people themselves with lyrics that detail citizens and their love for China.

a bit too cheesy and weak for me

*just a disclaimer i watched this drama alongside another drama while i waited for the episodes since it was airing, but i was so hooked onto the other drama that i quickly lost interest on this drama and eventually dropped it since it was starting to drag

Story; I initially was drawn into this drama with high hopes. The idea of a handsome human-cat shifting character carefully taking care of and watching over the female protagonist gave me thoughts of a cute fluffy romance drama and that thought was definitely fulfilled - you can really see the chemistry between the two protagonists and also especially within the friend group and I thoroughly enjoyed that. However, I noticed that as I continued to watch I became less and less interested by each episode and eventually forgot to watch the newer episodes that were being realeased while it aired. There's not much of a plot... it starts out strong but there is no significant events that take place apart from maybe one villain that's eventually brushed away. There's no quarrelling between characters, a very weak love triangle with the second male lead, and a shallow side story romance. However some people might prefer this seeing as it allows for more focus on the main characters.
I will say though, I appreciate the writers for not following a generic plot with an annoying second male lead and instead replacing it with a cute bromance.

Acting/Cast; L was a very nice addition to the drama considering he has had a similar role as a guardian angel in 'Angel's Last Mission' but I just wanna say: if you're looking for a drama with a protective male lead then I'd strongly suggest you watch his other drama seeing as it is much more enticing in my opinon with a stronger plot and a badass female lead with a tragic backstory.

In conclusion it was just overall a very generic average drama, I guess I'd recommend it to anyone that's bored since opinions differ (but I do have to say it was worth watching seeing L and the adorable cat that they casted :D)

Heavily Recommended For A Light Watch!!!!

This show has literally EVERYTHING that you'd be looking for in a fluffy cute romcom!! I was hooked from the start and will be definitely rewatching it in the future once the second season is released :)

Story; Although the plot is somewhat generic with the modern/historical mixed storyline, the writers managed to put their own twist to it which makes it both enjoyable, touching and comedic. Forget the dragging and slow-paced historical dramas that some of us are used to, this romcom is both fast-paced and direct - getting straight to the point and focusing solely on the relationship between the main leads with no unnecessary conflict nor complicated love triangles (i won't forget to mention all the kissing and affectionate scenes that were thrown in almost every episode). One thing that I LOVE about this show was that it constantly pushed the idea that women are in charge, allowing the female lead to constantly be in the spotlight with the male lead persistently supporting her the whole way with no questions asked

Acting; Honestly, there is no critique that I can think of about the acting/casting of this show; IT WAS PERFECT!! With Zhao Lusi, the boss of historical romcoms who never fails to put a smile on our faces, and Ryan Ding, who is both charming and adorably mischevious in the romance genre. These two put together combines for almost the most insane and crazy main character chemistry that I have ever witnessed. Also it's impossible to not mention how hilarious this couple are!! I don't want to go too much into it so you guys can see for yourselves :)

Overall, this has to be one of my favourite dramas now. The production quality of this show is insane, and the variety of OSTs used throughout are beautiful and sucessfully convey each and every emotion as you watch.

Anyways, time to fall into a slump for the next few days :l

*Just a note that I purely only gave this drama a go because of the actor Yang Yang, I'd highly recommend that you check his other acting roles out!

Story/Plot: At first glance, this drama seemed amazing - opening with a fantasy fight scene set in a traditional Chinese RPG game. This theme ran throughout the drama, but it eventually levelled off later on and focused on the relationship between the two leads. The involvement of the game in the drama was a nice touch since it added a stronger plot, which Love o2o definitely lacks in many aspects because nothing major ever happens throughout each episode other than minor quarrels between characters.

Acting/Cast: Moving onto characters... uhh Zheng Shuang was definitely a let down. Although I hate to say it, her acting was terrible and she doesn't know how to kiss (Yang Yang carried every single kiss scene while ZS just kind of stood there and let it happen), plus she's way too skinny and it bothered me the whole time that I was watching, adding on I don't think that the two actors have much chemistry together; maybe they should've casted someone better for the role of Bei Wei Wei? However, mayhaps I have to say that the show was worth watching just to drool over Yang Yang the whole time ;)

Music: The OSTs used in the show were so fitting for every scene and you'll be giddy to know that two of them were even sung by the actors themselves hehe.. “有点甜” is a must listen!

Rewatch Value: Personally I'm not much of a rewatch kind of guy and it's up to the preference of the viewer I suppose. However, I wouldn't bother rewatching this drama seeing as there are plentiful other dramas with similar plots like 'Put Your Head On My Shoulder' or 'A Love So Beautiful'.

Overall: Honestly it wasn't that bad. Everything about the drama was quite generic and typical other than the incorporation of the online game. However, I'd definitely recommend other cdramas over this one.

not perfect, but good

at first, i was intrigued by this drama because of it's similarities to Goblin as well as eventually being pulled in because of it's strong casting. although i have to admit that the drama isn't perfect, it's still a good watch and i would strongly recommend it - the plot combines fantasy, romance, comedy, whilst not focusing too much on the political side of it which may bore some viewers.

story;
the plot of the drama isn't original, but it's a genre that keeps giving and giving and directors manage to put their own unique twists into them. in this instance, it's a parallel world comparing a modernised korea with a cultural monarchic korea being run by heart-throb Lee Min Ho ;) on the one hand, the plot is quite refreshing as it combines so many different elements of a typical kdrama and combines them into one: detective, historical, romance, fantasy etc... however something that puts me off is the initial weak chemistry between the two leads. it's presented as a one-sided love but quickly rushes into a romantic relationship with not much development other than a kiss pretty much.

acting/cast;
as said before, i was pulled in because of it's strong cast. this drama has stirred up a storm because of it's casting of legends like Lee Min Ho and Kim Go Eun. they both play pretty badass characters however they show their cheesy cute sides whenever it comes to developing their relationship with one another.
Lee Min Ho plays the role of a young attractive king very well, seeing as that's pretty much what he already is in real life anyway.
meanwhile Kim Go Eun plays a badass lieutenant in the police force who beats and chases down criminals. i'm somewhat in love with her character seeing as she's not generic in the way that she is vulnerable and allows her male counterpart to do all the work. she's sarcastic, funny, and charming in all the right places and i would definitely rewatch this show if it's just for her.

all in all i'd definitely suggest that you give this drama a go! it's refreshing with such a good cast that you don't want to miss out on :D

although this drama is 26 episodes long, a bit longer than the average 16 episodes, i was able to easily finish it within 4 days on and off because of the light plot. there isn't a lot of information to take in throughout the episodes, other than the focus of women standing up for one another through hardships, which is thoroughly enjoyable and empowering.

the acting was a bit questionable and cheesy, and i was somewhat put off by the character Haha He played and her barcode bangs, however she plays her role almost perfectly as a somewhat 'pathetic' university freshman and thankfully later develops her character into an outgoing and sympathetic roommate.

the drama is jam-packed with comedic scenes, carried out by characters like Han Yi Tong and her desperate search for a man. there are also an immense amount of heart felt scenes between the roommates which develops their characters and friendship on a deeper level.

i'd strongly recommend this drama if you're looking for a light hearted watch or if you're just bored :D
