Although the dramas are set during very different time periods and in different parts of China, both are historical dramas that follow the story of a strong female character over time who become elevated to a status they didn’t initially seek, during a time when there is major transition in who is ruling the country. Both dramas very nicely showcase the entanglement of family and politics, and the complicated relationships between sisters. In both, the romance is present and important but still ultimately feels incidental to the growth of the main female lead, her development as an individual, and the broader storyline about stabilizing a country during a time of turmoil.

Ming Lan is a bit more slice of life and has more melodrama between wives and concubines, while Xiao Chuo focuses on life during the Liao Dynasty, the dynamics between the Khitans and the Hans.

It is not so much the storyline, but the music that overlaps. The music "written" in the storyline of "The liar and his lover" is even played by street musicians in "I am not a robot". It is probably the only overlapping song, since TLAHL is a music focussed drama and IANAR only has background music, but maybe it is the production, too, I just think, if you liked the one, you might like the other, too. Give it a try.

Both have similar arranged marriage premises and are super cute. They both have a slice of life vibe and are adapted from mangas. However, Marry Me! is a lot less animated.

Both movies are about the first emperor of a unified China, king of Qin. While they have different focuses story wise, they both show his personal and political struggles, etc.

both the couple enters into a relationship contract because of grandparents' wishes then falls in love later after.

Main leads met from gaming - Love o2o is in the college scene with little misunderstandings and an easy relationship with the leads while gank your heart starts with misunderstandings and throughout the story they meet a lot of trials. Love o2o also focuses on playing the games and creating games, while gank your heart is more about competing. If you like the gaming genre, both of these are great as they find love through games :)

Another gamer setting with some romance in the mix.. FL learns to play from ML and they slowly fall for eachother

Both female leads go through appearance changes - although in a little thing called first love the female lead started quiet and not so pretty over time she got prettier and more outspoken and determined because her crush is handsome and smart she felt she had to improve to stand with him. It's a great story of growing up and going after your dreams while becoming a better person in the process :)

Those two dramas have the same concept of time crossed or merged world. In both dramas are main leads trying to save someones life.

Haven't watched this yet since it just came out in the theaters in Taiwan, but from what i've heard it's top notch and even topped the box office surpassing every other movie for 2020 (in Taiwan). Friends with feelings for each other that go beyond the friend line. This and I told sunset about are the highest rated bl/lgbtq/coming of age dramas, put this on your plan to watch list cause it won't disappoint + it might be the only one that can compete with I told sunset about you since it set the bar so high. Top bls/coming of age of the year don't miss out.

Both dramas involve inner feelings being made aware for other people. In the case of Satorare everyone can hear one guys thoughts from a close distance and in the case of Cherry Magic! 1 person can hear everyones thoughts by touching them.

Both fantastic and heartfelt BL's. His is about two teenage lovers that broke up in college years and reunite in adulthood with completely different lives.
There is slice of life, there is pain of the past and there are lingering feelings. I feel like both dramas have a more mature side to it but still come across very soft with deeply rooted emotions.

The thing that ties these two shows together is the love triangle aspect. In both shows, you have the ML and FL establish a deep bond when they were children, but they get separated.

Once they grow up, one of the leads (FL in SU and ML in SWP) tries to find their childhood love and reconnect. However, instead of meeting them honestly, the other main lead (ML in SU and FL in SWP) asks someone else (2ML in SU and 2FL in SWP) to "pretend to be them" and meet with the now successful lead (FL in SU and ML in SWP).

However, unintendedly, the second lead ends up developing feelings for the main lead, extending the lie while giving room for the main leads to fall in love with each other.

Both are based on true stories. Tells us the story of a person going through an illness and will inspire us to live our lives to the fullest and achieve our dreams.

Both are historical dramas. Both of them involves marriage at background and a noble male lead and ordinary female lead.
