Both are somewhat similar as both are **K-BLs set in an educational institution**, following young characters as they navigate friendships, emotions, and romance. Both dramas have strong **young-romance vibes**, giving their stories a youthful and relatable feel. They also include moments of **jealousy**, especially as the characters begin developing deeper feelings and become more aware of each other’s relationships and attention. Alongside the emotional tension, both dramas feature a **soft-love** atmosphere, focusing on gentle interactions, growing affection, and the gradual development of romantic feelings. Despite these similarities, their individual storylines and character dynamics remain different.

*A Shoulder to Cry On* and *Summertime* are somewhat similar as both are **Korean BLs set in a school environment**, focusing on young characters navigating complicated emotions and relationships. Both dramas feature a **school-life setting, youthful romance, friendship, emotional tension, and coming-of-age themes**. The stories also explore characters who initially have a complicated or somewhat distant relationship before gradually developing a deeper emotional connection. Both have a relatively **soft, youthful atmosphere**, while also touching on loneliness, misunderstandings, personal struggles, and the difficulty of expressing feelings. Their romances develop alongside the characters’ personal growth, making the school setting an important part of both stories. However, their specific plots and character dynamics are different.

*The Missing Piece* and *Melody of Secret* are somewhat similar in the way they use a **memory-loss plot, lover misidentification/misconception, and a dark, mysterious tone**. In both dramas, memory plays an important role in creating confusion around the characters’ relationships and their understanding of the past. The protagonists are connected through a romantic history that is not entirely clear, leading to misunderstandings about who they truly are to each other. Both stories also carry a darker atmosphere, with emotional tension, secrets, uncertainty, and a sense that something important from the past is being hidden or forgotten. However, their exact plots and character dynamics are still different.

Is cute, funny, down-badism your thing? then this is right up your alley. Both Theerakit Kian Lee and Duang are freaking DOWN BADD for their nonchalant and cool partners. Both the dramas have a light hearted comedy feel, but while Me and Thee is more over-the-top expensive CEO from a soap drama, Duang with you offers a more down-bad, cute and live-wire-like energy love.

The similarities between The Missing Piece and Bittersweet Love are actually insane. Same emotional angst, complicated relationships, intense chemistry, misunderstandings, obsession, heartbreak, and that painful push-and-pull dynamic. Both really know how to make you suffer while still making you root for the couple.

Well,,,
Here me out… surely we have two different ending for both series but surely we have this similar plot serving here~~

First thing first… the whole ironic story of the leads… the girl for sure are so pitiful and poor… they just had to face EVERYTHING!! I mean EVERY SINGLE THING… they are keep going on trouble trouble trouble the scriptwriters just can’t leave them alone… One single happy things happen to them would lead to another disaster…
And next we have the downbad loyal whipped male lead…
You can’t tell me otherwise… one wait for 10 years while the other wait till….?????

Sure things they want to escape the reality and ALMOST SUCCEED!!!
But again our scriptwriters just decided to, “Nope, they can’t have the peace that easily”
SERIOUSLY??!! I’m getting immersed…

All in all I love both series with their own charms.. very interesting one ???

The biggest similarity between Part 1 and Part 2 is that Wu Zetian remains at the center of every important choice and every possible future.

? Part 1: The beginning of the choices.
In Part 1, Wu Zetian is still discovering the palace, the people around her, and the different paths available to her. Li Zhi and Li Tai represent two very different relationships and futures, and her choices begin to shape the direction of her story.

? Part 2: The consequences of those choices.
In Part 2, those relationships and decisions become more important because Wu Zetian is no longer simply choosing who she wants to be close to. She is also moving closer to the woman she wants to become. Her decisions have greater consequences for her position, her future, and her journey toward becoming Empress.

?? Li Zhi, Li Tai, and Wu Zetian: the same central conflict, but at a different stage.
The similarity between both parts is that Li Zhi and Li Tai continue to represent different possible paths in Wu Zetian's life. However, the difference is that Part 1 introduces the choices, while Part 2 explores where those choices can lead her.

Ultimately, the story is not simply about choosing Li Zhi or Li Tai. Both parts continue to ask the same question: which path allows Wu Zetian to move closer to the future she wants—and to becoming the Empress she chooses to be?

The feeling of angst basically defines this according to my opinion.
Angst- Often arises from a deep sense of unease or anxiety about life's uncertainties. It can manifest as a profound inner turmoil, where one grapples with existential questions, searching for meaning in a world filled with chaos. This emotional state can be characterized by a lingering sense of dread, a gnawing doubt about one’s purpose, or the weight of unfulfilled desires.

Yes — **Merry Berry Love** has a lot in common with **Welcome to Samdal-ri**, and that seems very intentional. Ji Chang-wook is even returning to romantic comedy with *Merry Berry Love* after *Samdal-ri*.

### ? The biggest similarities

| | **Welcome to Samdal-ri** | **Merry Berry Love** |
| ------------------------ | -------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| ? Setting | Jeju Island | Remote Japanese island |
| ? Male lead | Cho Yong-pil | Lee Yu-bin |
| ? Female lead | Cho Sam-dal | Shirahama Karin |
| ? Career problem | Sam-dal's career collapses | Yu-bin loses his career/success |
| ?? Return to rural life | Sam-dal returns to Jeju | Yu-bin starts over on an island |
| ?? Romance | Old love rekindled | New island romance |
| ? Healing | Community + hometown help Sam-dal heal | Island life + Karin help Yu-bin rebuild |
| ? Tone | Warm romantic comedy | Warm romantic comedy |

The core similarity is **“successful city person loses their old life ? returns/ends up in a quieter island community ? meets someone ? heals and falls in love.”**

In *Samdal-ri*, Sam-dal returns to Jeju after her photography career falls apart. In *Merry Berry Love*, Yu-bin loses everything as a successful spatial designer and travels to Charo Island, where he ends up working around Karin's strawberry farm.

### ?? But there is one BIG difference

**Samdal-ri = “returning home.”**
Sam-dal already belongs to Jeju. The story is about **reconnecting with her roots, family, friends, and first love.**

**Merry Berry Love = “starting over somewhere new.”**
Yu-bin is an outsider in Japan. He has to adapt to island life, strawberry farming, and a different culture while developing feelings for Karin.

So I'd describe it as:

> **Welcome to Samdal-ri:** *“I lost my success, so I went home and found myself again.”*
> **Merry Berry Love:** *“I lost my success, went somewhere completely new, and built a new life.”*

And if what you loved about *Welcome to Samdal-ri* was **Ji Chang-wook + countryside/island scenery + healing + slow romance + funny everyday moments**, *Merry Berry Love* looks like it is deliberately targeting that same comfort-drama feeling.

**One important caveat:** *Merry Berry Love* premieres **October 7, 2026**, so the comparison is currently based on its official premise, trailers, and promotional material rather than the complete aired story.

If you want, I can also compare **Yu-bin vs Yong-pil** and **Karin vs Sam-dal** — their personalities and relationship dynamics look especially interesting.

These two have the most obvious thing in common which is zombie apocalypse. But there is also a bit of a bl romance in zomvivor. Both have great costumes and vibes. Both deal with the struggle against zombies but also whether to trust other survivors. Both are about finding a cure.
