End Of The Year BL Review ~ 2024 Edition!1 hour ago
GMMTV probably never came this close to doing justice to SOTUS before this one. It's a well done "engineering-senior&junior" in middle of dozens of other tries at the SOTUS legacy
Different genre, but for me these two have some similarities when it comes to the vibe they give.
As I wrote in my review for My Sweet Mobster, it is kind of like the scriptwriters didn't take themselves too seriously, which resulted in some lighthearted humor.
Both of these shows also showcases underlying issues; for MSM it is ex-convicts' struggles to get back into society, and for KF it is widows' status during Joseon times.

Both are historical dramas and the FLs are an inversion of each other - Maids is about a noblewoman who becomes a slave, and TToLO is about a slave who becomes a noblewoman.
Both are mini dramas in which one of the leads are caught in a time loop, trying to save themselves and the other lead.
Both are about someone caught in a time loop that always ends with their death, and their efforts to discover who is behind the events, with many different suspects to consider.
Both are about an object that allows one or both of the leads to travel back a few hours in time to undo their deaths as they try to figure out who is killing them.

- Gender role reversal (a matriarchy in Ooku, a male courtesan in Homme Fatale)
- ML is a free spirit, FL is reserved
- Very slight romance
- ML hangs out with women often (as a courtesan in HF and as a 'lover' in Ooku (it's more of a favor than a paid service if you catch my drift...))
- Jealous men sabotage ML
- Kinda bittersweet, melancholic vibes
Homme Fatale is more comedy focused while Ooku is darker and somber.

- Matriarchies (few men due to sickness in Ooku, no men due to law in Laplae)
- Important plot point related to pregnancy
- Royalty FL (Shogun in Ooku, Queen's daughter in Laplae)
- Reluctant, free-spirit and kind MLs
- Gender role reversal themes
Laplae is lighter, more romance focused and more fantastical than Ooku.

Got alike vibe. and theme. Not time travel though.
both are about investigation of :past crime: In both ML and FL are tangled together thanks crime which connects them.

It's a similar story about revenge. Both leads are aware of their circumstances. Female lead is seeking revenge and male lead is supporting her.
- Disease that affects only males, making men a rare commodity
- Unconventional and quirky leads
- Story takes place in a safe location where men are kept
- Gender role reversal
- Queer rep
- Social commentary
The stories are vastly different in tone and setting. RSL is a light romcom while Ooku is much darker and melancholic

crime investigation, full of angst and plot twists, very intense, friendship and emotional at times. you'll most likely enjoy this too if you've enjoyed MIU 404
Both main characters of these dramas have similar abilities, especially the FL of Family Matters and the ML of Awaken. Those two characters can manipulate someone's mind yet they also have a difference. Anyhow, both dramas interestingly awaken your curiosity about their family matters.
