First of all both of these movies share the same main cast (Kobayashi Satomi and Motai Masako) and feature a similar topic of women who go on (prolonged) vacation to find their place in life. While some of the details (and overall vibe) vary, these two productions are really similar

Both series conceptualize love between two souls of a past life by way of reincarnation in the form of a boss-employee power dynamic in a workplace setting. Whereas the novelist from First Love, Again initially rejects his soulmate in this lifetime because his employee-the editor-is a man, the director from The Director Who Buys Me Dinner insists that he and his secretary immediately start dating in this lifetime upon first meeting each other. At the beginning of both series, the novelist and the director (the bosses) both have active memories of their respective soulmates of a prior life, in stark contrast to the editor and the secretary (the employees) who must revive their lost memories as the two series progress.

Both are historical drama and they both have a mixture of drama and comedy. The plots are very different, but I think the vibes of the shows are similar. Both dramas have large ensemble casts.

Both dramas are centered around revenge. The glory is about a woman taking revenge on the bullies from her high school days. The devil judge is taking revenge on the powerful people that killed his brother. If you like to watch evil people finally get the karma they deserve, I think you will like both dramas.

Both movies have aspects of bullying. YourName Engraved Herein focuses more on LGBTQ+ struggles. Both movies have a love story between two students who are being ostracized by the cruel society that we live in. Both are sad, poignant and just amazing. Also, I noticed some similarities with the art direction for both films. Great acting, cinematography and dialogue is seen in both films. So go watch both of this critically acclaimed films.

Based on Kenichi Kawakami's novel. 8-year old boy, Shinpei, who loves fishing and painting, lives with his beautiful mother, surrounded by nature. His mother, Satsuki, has a weak constitution and lost her husband years ago. She takes care of her son lovingly but sometimes strictly, on her own. Shinpei's childhood sweetheart, Sayuri, is deaf, but somehow they can understand each other and they always spend time together.
One day, big news comes to their town: Shinpei's picture received the Grand Prize in a Children's Pictures Exhibition in Paris. On the night that Sayuri's father, Takakura, holds a celebration party for Shinpei, Satsuki leaves her son in Takakura's care and goes out of the house. Feeling uneasy, Shimpei goes to look for her but finds his mother dead, lying calmly and peacefully in the beautiful, white snow...Fast forward to the future, Shinpei has been offered a fake job in Tokyo. Sayuri's father arranged everything so that Shinpei would not interfere with Sayuri's marriage.

Both MLs are allergic to being touched by either all people or just women due to childhood trauma. However they are only immune to the FL who is in disguise when they meet (as a man vs. as a robot).
