Goodbye, Youth Goodbye, Ssangmun-dong
Back then the law forbade couples with the same surname to get married and thus, Bo Ra and Sun Woo have a number of obstacles to overcome. On the other hand, the reporters finds out that Taek is dating Deok Sun but Deok Sun asks Taek to deny the dating rumour. Sun Woo and Bo Ra are finally married. Bo Ra and her dad write to each other as they are not good in expressing themselves; both of them burst into tears when they read the letters. As their stories end here in Ssangmundong, Deok Sun starts grieving the past and her lost youth... (Source: Viu)

The director and writer has built a very beautiful little world between the 5 families, filled with joy and nostalgia.

I’m not at all disappointed about who Deok Sun ended up with. I’d have been more upset if she didn’t end up with Taek honestly. What I AM upset about is how much focus and time went towards the adults in this drama, while most of the neighborhood gang’s stories were rushed and told primarily as rushed narrations glossing over stretches of time rather than actually being shown. It’s not like the challenges faced by the two main couples (dealing with their families, laws, stigmas as well as crazy hectic schedules) wouldn’t have been enough to keep us entertained - it absolutely would. The series focused too heavily on emphasizing the challenges of the times. Of course those things should have been addressed, yes, but it should have been told from the perspective of the kids and seeing how their parents were affected by it, secondary to the story of their relationships and friendships as they grew over time. This was still enjoyable but it wasn’t what I expected or was looking for in a ‘Reply’ series.

Pokoknya, Reply 1988 bakal jadi drama no 1 kalau ditanya soal cinta,persahabatan,keluarga,komedi pokoknya lengkap dah SUMPAH TERBAPER bahkan bisa nangis sendiri ingetnya. 100% recommended! Harus ditonton! Banyak banget pelajarannya. Dan sekarang w kangen banget sama kehidupannya Ssamundong!:'(

OH MY GOD!! I don't know why I watched it so late. It is such a good drama. It makes me long for my childhood friends. I am so envious of the bond that the characters have in this drama, how comfortable they are with each other. A beautiful story of multiple families living in the same neighbourhood going through the highs and lows of life together. This drama had me laughing and crying at the same time. It also made me think how technology in todays world has made us such unsociable creatures. We have deeper relationships with our phones and laptops than we have with any actual person and it just makes me sad.

I'm so sad to say goodbye to the gang, I absolutely love them! I will definitely rewatch this drama to reunite with them.
This drama ended nicely that got me so emotional. I cried a lot in this episode.
