Both have the same producers and if you enjoy their storytelling as well as their sense of humor, you'll for sure enjoy watching Reply 1988 and get involved with the lives of the families in the neighborhood just like you can get involved with the stories of doctors in the hospital.

Same writer, same style same feels. No wonder when i watched the drama I was like... "This is really filling the void "Reply 1988" left on me

-Childhood friends who end up together romantically (But not clear who's going to end up with who)
-Same Dysfunctional Family/Community feeling in both series.
-Both nostalgic dramas about Childhood/Youth/Growing up. (Reply 1988 in particular is beautiful, Characters are shown reflecting on their childhood)
-Go Ahead has more of a nostalgic Family/ Healing theme, genetically different but a family nonetheless.
-All main characters in GA & R1988 are each others main source of support/happiness, the same support bubble/friendship groups.
- Go Ahead spends more time on the characters while they grow up and reconnect with each other and less on them younger.

Both dramas are about friendship, neighborhood, and life in the late 80s and 90s. They include the relationship between parents and children, siblings. Both are fun to watch, but can also make you cry.

The dramas are of the same genre. Slice of life, friendships and family. They are both set in a neighborhood where everyone grew up together. Their relationships with eachother and their families and how they grow up.

Reply 1988 is one of my favorite dramas and when I started watching Sunny, I started getting the same vibes and feels I did while watching that drama.

Reply 1988 is a drama while Sunny is a movie, but both occur in a similar time period in the past and evoke nostalgic feelings even if you didn't live through that time period yourself.

The friendship theme is strong and both the drama and movie are slow paced, yet interesting, funny, and realistic.

You'll find yourself laughing, crying, feeling sentimental while connecting to all of the characters!!! :")

Please watch this if you're looking for something to fill that empty void in your heart. This and 25-21. Both of them are not only simmilar to Twinkling Watermelon, but you'll also find the vibes, character dynamics and themes that are recurring.

Reply me 1988 is my all time favorite drama. I almost got the same vibe after watching le coup de foudre. Both are wonderful dramas. Both starts with present life where the leads are husband and wife talking about their youth and how they have come to this point but the only difference is we don't know at first who the husband is in case of reply 1988. Both have multiple couples with wonderful stories of their own including their parents love. Both teach us to appreciate our families and friends. No annoying side characters which is a big plus point for any drama. Some might find both series a little slow paced but trust me its all worth it. So if u like slice of life dramas i would recommend both of them.Trust me they are very feel good dramas!! Enjoy

Despite the main subject being different, i found lots of similarities between the two. The first a’d most important being the community aspect. There is the same family vibe between all the characters. The dramas are so warm znd and have such angreat vibe.

Both dramas are about youth, friendship, and growing up. They both do a beautiful job of focusing on the things that we come to realize as we get older and the pressures and difficulties that we have to face, as well as truly capturing the feeling of being young.

Both of them have a heavy support cast of families and friend that creates a nice atmosphere of love and friendship. Also, although Hometown Cha Cha Cha is not slice of life, it has a light story that resembles the genre.

Both dramas are set in the past. Both dramas give out the same kind of vibe even though Reply 1988 is set in urban Seoul and Girls Generation 1979 is set in rural Daegu. Both dramas have lovable characters who you will get attached to :)
