Everybody Has Secrets (2004)

I’m not even sure why I picked this movie to watch in the first place. I’ll blame it on staying up way too late which causes a lack in proper decision making skills. It was convoluted and a little twisted. A man causes chaos within a single family by seducing all the ladies with varied tactics. The reason why he went on his seducing spree? Not a clue. What I got from it was that he believed that a secret could empower a person to become more and have more to live for. So, he felt that by sleeping with them all he gave them a secret that would better their life… then he leaves without a trace and starts the process all over again. My second question that I asked myself, after wondering why I picked it in the first place, was why did I struggle all the way through to the end? That would have to be for Lee Byung Hun. However, when the credits rolled I wasn’t really certain that Lee Byung Hun gazing had been enough to make up for what I’d just sat through. Definitely not a movie that I would recommend.

My reason for watching this movie can be summarized by a name... Lee Byung Hun... and I tell you, I'm not sure if it was worth it.

Believe it or not, the story lacked originality, it wasn't anything I hadn't seen before. To quote 'About Adam', "He came. He saw. He conquered. One sister at a time", it sums up this movie to a T. The player played and he (well, you'll have to watch the movie to know what happens from there).

I must admit, I was fairly set on dropping this movie after the first 40 minutes because of the poor acting. I only held on to see how everything would be resolved. I was unable to connect with any of the leading ladies... I didn't believe their characters nor did I care for them. Lee Byung Hun was convincing in his role, I believed his character and I understood him but this certainly wasn't his best work.

As for the music, the live shows from character Mi Young were respectable, that girl has a nice singing voice.

Honestly, I wouldn't watch this movie again. Naturally, as the title suggests, the movie teaches the audience about what secrets can bring people... I simply don't agree with the stance the movie takes (the lesson is given at the end through a voice over of Lee Byung Hun.

'Everybody Has Secrets' isn't necessarily a bad movie, it's the kind of movie you'd watch if you have nothing else to do... or you just want to see a half-naked Byung Hun but if that's what you're after, go for 'Addicted' or even 'GI Joe: Retaliation', they have better stories.

At first , I watched this movie without subtitles and I was like : That's it ?? Seriously ??
So I found the subtitles and watched it again while I couldn't help but skipping unnecessary parts !
And then , I was like : I really didn't miss a thing watching this movie without understanding dialogs !
This is a typical somehow-funny sexy romance-comedy full of sexual scenes and doesn't really creat a trill for you to keep sitting in front of the screen until the very end !
STORY LINE :
(A man who gives 3 sisters a BIG CHANCE (?) of sleeping with him while he wants to marry one of them!) Nothing more ! Seriously ! The whole film shows the way he simply seduces them acting like a way too good gentleman , sleeps with them , and goes to another one LOL ! xD some parts are funny but they could be much better
ACTING CAST :
Lee Byung Hun was NOT-BAD ! of course he didn't have to try much ! That killer smile and sharp glance of him is enough to show him as a real player ! (just kidding ! he's a good actor , but this movie wasn't a good choice after all)
Choi Ji Woo did the best acting in this movie ! she could exactly show us her wired somehow-pitiful character who finally gets seduced despite her guard against men !
MUSIC :
Not very special ones but they fit the story !
REWATCH VALUE : Not at all ! Seriously ! there are much better romantic-comedies in k-movie industry !

I tried this movie since I saw a Running Man episode with Choi Ji Woo as guest, I was fascinated by her charm and beauty so I give this film a try, to be honest not a great film of her to start with.
I kind of like the way the story developed with the sisters, 3 story parts (for each sister) interwine with each other, it's interesting for the storyline but sadly there's pretty nothing else to praise about the story. The film ended with a very unconvincing lesson, and even more confused if you watch the end credit, which has some pictures about the sisters's fates, it felt like Lee Byung Hyun's character was some kind of love angel, only appeared to bring happiness to this family and then after the job's done he goes for another mission, it should be like that otherwise the plot would be pretty dumb, I mean how he went away after already married the youngest sister ? it just makes no sense .
Actingwise I think Lee did pretty well in the role of a Casanova, I'm pretty impressed to be honest since I only knew him from action films, Chu Sang Mi and Kim Hyo Jin did pretty good job too. Choi Ji Woo's performance is a bit off for me, the way she cries is too much, I think she has better roles in other films, not this one.
I won't talk about the music since I either don't care or I think it has no influence on the film anyway.
For anyone who wants to watch a nice romantic sex comedy or some best works of Lee Byung Hyun and Choi Ji Woo, I won't recommend this film (the sex scene is so so bad), but for anyone who wants to waste some time, this film is quite ok since it has only 100 minutes and you can sleep well after this (because nothing about this film wil stay in your head lol)
