Payong (1993)

Hoenfa is the son of a wealthy man. His father wanted to live his life in the countryside with his young wife and his son. Hoenfa is a quiet and respectful guy. He doesn't have many friends and he considers a young and ordinary girl, Suay, to be his best friend. After Hoenfa's father died, he left a will that Hoenfa has to continue to go to school in Bangkok. So, he has to live with his aunt. She has four kids, two boys and two girls that are mean and stubborn. Before Hoenfa left, he gave a ring to Suay, the same ring his father gave to the woman he loved. Hoenfa told her that he will never forget her, no matter what, then they said goodbye to each other. Suay promised she will take care of his mother and his dog for him. After he moved in with his aunt, he was unhappy for quite a while. His aunt was mean and his cousins were stuck-up people who lived happily with the money of Hoenfa's father. Hoenfa wrote letters to Suay, saying that the people in the house are kind and nice to him, and that everything is going smoothly. He lied because he didn't want her and his mother to worry about him. Suay replied back every letter that he sent. There's an event in Bangkok that Suay is coming to. She knew that Hoenfa will also attend, because this event is mainly for high-class people. She wanted to surprise him but when she saw him standing next to a girl (his cousin), she misunderstood and walked away. By the time Hoenfa's mother told him about Suay, he was shocked and went looking for her, but it was too late. Many years have passed and Hoenfa became a pilot, while Suay became a doctor. They meet again when she was living in the forest to help poor people and his plane crashed there. Will they be able to finally understand each other?
