At a street corner in Osaka at night, an elderly man speaks to high school girls doing "JK business." "JK" is an acronym standing for joshi kosei (female high school students) and "the business" involves dating services. The man has been a volunteer who tries to offer jobs to youth with no place to go while he runs a psychiatric clinic. He is Ebisawa Atsushi whom the girls call the “local doctor”. One day, a young landscape photographer Minazuki Shin comes to him for an interview. “I wish to do a story on your activities,” he says. Shin is actually Ebisawa’s son. He initially conceals his background and approaches Ebisawa who left him and his mother Sachiko when he was a child. The relationship between father and son has broken down. After the family went their separate ways 30 years ago, Ebisawa’s wife passed away without anyone at her deathbed. This reunion between father and son in Osaka after 30 years is also the beginning of a journey of atonement for both of them. As Shin gets involved with high school student Kuro who loiters on the streets alone, and Kasuga Reiko, who runs a non-profit organisation and tries to help troubled youth, he shows signs of a change of heart. Meanwhile, Ebisawa realizes through his growing interactions with Shin, that Shin is the son he abandoned 30 years earlier. What is Shin’s objective for coming to Osaka to visit him? Deep in his heart, Ebisawa regrets leaving his wife and son. His reunion with Shin sets his life in motion. Will father and son be able to bridge the deep void between them? Edit Translation
