I've decided to write this review for you if you are interested to watch this drama or don't know what to expect. (Also I posted spoilers and other stuff down in comments) I would like to raise awareness and clear some misconceptions and made sure you know what you are going into if you decide to watch this for this drama is actually very hard to recommend or review for me. I have no idea what to do with this rollercoaster of emotions and stupidity but this is probably the first thing I've seen that fully deserves MELODRAMA tag.

To those seeking answers if it's worth watching, what is it about or what can you expect. How is it? Well, it's lighthearted moments are fantastic and drama moments too. Sadly the writing, motivations of villains and overall frustration is something that you have to overlook to move on. Writers and villains will do everything in their power to make the drama frustrating just for the sake of frustration. The main cast tries to do everything but the GOD of this drama just plays with you and will frustrate you from the beginning till the end. Even the "redemption arc" is not enough to redeem these villains. Their actions and their writing is unacceptable. There was potential because you can see that people are actually mentally ill and should do something about it but you get only few mentions and nobody takes it seriously.

If you are looking for something where the main cast gets through the trouble by the first half and then will have happy moments, look somewhere else. People will be together and people will fight. Tears will be shed and blood shall be spilled (oh wait... I don't remember this part about blood being in the drama). The progress is really fast and mature and with that sadly comes the decision to make it frustrating even sacrificing some sanity and common sense. The frustration lasts till the end and it's not even frustration over the characters but more like frustration over writing stuff that will make you scream "how is this happening AGAIN! WHY! But you know what, I still have to say if you can watch some quality acting and magnificent chemistry, go for it and skip the parts you want to skip. You can sit through the hours of frustration and angst and unreasonable WTH moments and take it all in or you can just take parts of it and enjoy it by your standards.

Story: Feels like watching torture and degradation of main cast waiting for happy moments of insanely good chemistry and funny interaction.

Acting: Absolutely amazing. You might love some characters. You might despise some characters with passion. You might hate the writers but these people can act. Despite very questionable reasons, decisions, twists and whatsoever, these actors can act.

- If you hate angst, stupid decisions and don't want to be frustrated or don't like arrogant (and often rude) but strong female lead - avoid it.
- If you want just some sweet romance and skinship with good chemistry - avoid it or watch it and skip the parts you want to skip - make it your own experience.
- If you want to watch people burn - Go for it
- If you want some mature experience and are able to get through the frustration or are ok with skipping some parts - Go for it
- If you are a fan of one of the two main actors - Go for it.

Despite all my criticism here or down in the comment section, I had a blast. Maybe it was the acting, maybe it was the mature feeling. Maybe it was all of it and more. As I am writing this, only a few people on this site actually watched it and I wish these "hidden gems" could get more recognition.

More info and spoilers in the comment section.

I actually forgot that Liu Shi Shi and Tong Da Wei are already married to their significant celebrity other in real life cuz they were so adorable and cute together as a romantic couple in this drama!!! At first their pairing seemed odd to me, but gradually their chemiztry manifested itself. Despite the looming presence of death (sickness / suicides); the constant push-and-pull, going on in circles,& convolutedness of the relationship among the three main leads; the childhishness, the incredulity, and the highly annoying pathologic God complex and victim complex of some characters, I believe it is still possible to enjoy watching this drama. There are plenty of sweet and funny moments; wonderful piano music; and some life lessons. It touched on touchy topics like domestic abuse and mental illness. I liked that it teaches that love should be built on trust, among other things. That money can't buy love, peace, or happiness. And that despite the harshness of life, one should still earnestly seek to play the hand he or she is dealt with with peace and strength because as long as one is alive there will always be hope.

Although the story is rich and worth your time watching, generally, it's an overstretched torture. Poignant, nothing much pleasing. Sometimes I nearly gave up watching Should have been condensed. A number of the first episodes are quite captivating but as the story progresses it somehow becomes flat, less interesting. With little twists, it gives a glimmer of hope and catches my attention. Love and a love path of a kind, an imaginable One. A mature melodrama. The chemistry between the casters is top notch. Like a real thing.
The music was good.

Great chemistry, but drawn out too long!

WARNING:Spoilers ahead

Great series, especially the flirting and teasing between Kao Er (Cecilia Liu) and Mo Chi (Geng Mo Chi)...they actually pull off appearing to be an actual couple in love!

On the negative, the series would have been better a little shorter, since around every corner something happened where Kao Er, Moshi or Shu Li (Bao Jian Feng) exaggerated some sort of event to the point Kao Er and Mo Chi were thrown away from each other's arms, and marriage...

The series bounced back and forth from flirting and teasing to drama because of the two lovers never seem to make it to the altar, at least together; the writers did an excellent job on the series abeit they should have cut if down a few episodes (more of the director's fault than theirs, however).

Continuously laughing at some of the scenes (example: Kao Er and Mo Chi both sparring at the 100th day anniversary of their spouses' death at the adjoining graves), I kept saying to myself that the actors/esses had to had fun doing many of the scenes and (at least) one of them probably cracked up laughing as they were trying to keep a straight face acting out the funnier scenes!

I also laughed when Shu Li told Kao Er that he knew of a perfect match for Mo Chi's heart transplant; something told me that HE was the perfect heart donor...I also immediately saw Jin Yi as Shu Li's long-lost sister.

Ying Zhi (Qi Xiang) played the perfect and steadfast friend of Kao Er, while Mi Lan (Yang Yi Tong) played an excellent friend-turned-villianess...I hope China's movie industry gives her a chance to star as a main character/villianess in another, future, movie or series!

[She and Second Sister from General's Lady (2020) both deserve a chance to play a main role as a "bad woman" in the future]

Anyway, quite a good series, with the minor detail of too many "coincidences" keeping them apart for so long!

I likes it also when Shu Li made the comment of when Kao Er told him of Mo Chi being destitute, but apparently still able to rent a fancy boat apartment in an expensive city like Seattle...the humor was not wasted on anyone knowing how expensive it is to live anywhere in Seattle, WA...especially on the waterfront!

Equally funny was Kao Er renting the same waterfront boat apt as Mo Chi did with all the money she had, then expecting to just "go" and get a job so that she could eat...can you imagine her applying for ANY job with her lack of experience in the food business!

The support Zach Ireland Splittgerber, Sun Zhi Hong, et al, deserve praise for their roles also; in particular Kao Er's parents: Ru Ping and Xie Yuan (mother and father, respectively).

Dizzy from the circles

The first two episodes of the drama caught my attention quickly. The FL and ML have very good on-screen chemistry and had a lot of cute moments for me.
The story was great but the drama could have been greatly reduced in episodes because I felt as if we were going around in circles. About halfway through I wanted to quit watching just because it felt like torture and was so stretched out. I mean yes we get it they had to really suffer for their love. Nevertheless I finished it and I found that their relationship had more realness when it came to all the problems they were facing and how sometimes it's not easy sailing.
All in all it is an interesting enough watch but I wouldn't re-watch it again and I don't know if I would recommend it the others unless they like drawn-out plots.

Lovely, full of emotions and beautiful love story .
Few starting episodes were little boring but as the story progress it turn out be good .
I like some scenes
1.when he took her in his arm at airport and same way at confrence .
2. hotel room when she came to meet him and then she going out of the room and so again he took her in his arm and ask her to close the door.
3.this scenes was so emotional that even my heart felt very sad when she was going to sign divorce paper at that time he grab her hand and plead not to sign by his eyes ,oh god so emotional scene .
This love story touch my heart, lead actor's character perfectly husband material .
Last scene that end with sweet potato one was also good .
Lead actress 's two friends story also give a message 1.if something happened with you which is very bad then still you don't have right to destroy other people life to think that nobody cares me then why I care others ,if I am struggling then why people around us are happy , revenge never bring happiness but it make you alone and helpless .
Other story ,To look for achievement ,fame and earn more money one should never avoid their personal life because what left in the end are regretions .So family is very important ,they should always keep in priorities .

Very interesting story and beautiful acting

It could have been better if the editors do a better work in the editing. The ML and FL are great, even the second lead is good and the music - very pleasing. However, they could have cut the episodes down to 30 and the whole thing would still make sense and less draggy. It has a very interesting story line, I ready enjoy Dong Wei’s acting, he brought out the temperament of a musician, passionate and impulsive. His scenes with the FL are very enjoyable and convincing to watch. And the second ML is not bad either, towards the end I really feel sorry for him. The credit do go to the writers who had told a story about mental illness nicely. But I will probably not watch it again.

Draaaaaagy and traaashy

The whole script and direction is meaningless, unrealistic and effortless. They say something and do promise for that but in the next scene they act opposite to that. The main annoying thing is, for last more than 14 episodes everyone(including ML) keeps on telling that the ML is dying bad dying and dying and so many times he went unconscious also but yet he woke up in the next scene. The most unrealistic is, when the ML was in critical condition, FL visits him at the hospital to convey a heart breaking news that she is leaving him permanently and going to America and she will never come back and she don’t want to see him in the future, and she asks to second ML not to tell any news (whether he is dead or alive) and in the next scene she commit suicide. After two years, when had only 3 months he suddenly showed up even though he acknowledged that she is having a good life by forgetting her past, and even though he knew it is affecting her life again he keeps on clinging to her and make her life miserable again.
Whole drama has only one proper villain, keep on dragging her. I think no one can get so many chances in single life, and all the sins and crimes she committed was forgiven easily even the murder of a daughter, attempt to murder of some people and reason for so many miseries. Not humans even the devils also won’t forgive.
Like this there are so many baseless unrealistic and useless things but I have given 5 because I like their chemistry and the climax of this drama.

Plagiarized the idea

I didn't like this drama from the beginning: the idea has been stolen from "April Snow" 2005 Korean romantic drama film, (starring Bae Yong-joon and Song Ye-jin) in which a man and a woman meet after their adulterous spouses (involved in a love affair) got in a car accident. And I watched it SEVERAL times!!! I wonder why "If I can love you so" screen writers plagiarized the idea? Beside that, the FL ( AS USUAL) is a hysterical, belligerent, bitchy female (as usual so irritating to watch), no wonder her husband cheated on her. I quit watching in the middle of the first episode. Nobody could be compared with Bae Yong-joon and Song Ye-jin! NOBODY!
