I did not get hooked on it initially as the first episode drag on a bit with the introductions. But it slowly grew onto me and just love the landscape, the paintings, the calligraphy and the tai chi moves. It brought back my passion to buy some paint brushes to practice my calligraphy.

I actually like Piao Piao acting a lot more that others, her tai chi skills were brillant. She came across as a strong female lead and although she pairs nicely with Wei Chu, I do not see a lot of passion coming across. BTW it is very G rated drama. So do not expect many kiss scenes here.

I am move fascinated with the art works and tai chi moves, and the story behind these than the usual romance drama. This drama has some quality to it and the scenes and locations they build and used are all very nice.

The story tells about how an outcast girl of the tai chi community made a come back helped by her master/boyfriend. They faced many challenges from the tai chi community, school, friendship and battles.
Very basic story line but worth the watch.

Afternoon watching delight

I came across this web series, full of surprises. I really enjoyed in. The story is fast paced about a cheating husband and his family and how the wife schemed and win in the end. The best acting has to be the mother in law, her acting and her abuse of her daughter in law may seem over the top but I have seen such mother in law in real life. There is not much music, so unable to give any comment. The fl and ml acting are not bad either. Give it a try, it will give you a few laughs and surprises, worth the watch. Best part is that it is all done in an afternoon.

This is a very well put together drama which spanned 4 main families with children attending high school sitting for university entrance examination. No dramatic scenes, just normal things which families face with their marriage, family life, school life, work life, etc. It practically covered everything you could imagined and how these families dealt with it.
What is sweet about it, was that at the end of each episodes each actor/actress take turned to share their life experiences.
Miao Miao (main female lead) plays a very immature 18 years old which on occasion, she seems mature on how she dealt with some life matters. The ending is OK, seems to be slotted for a season 2 release to explain their life at university.

Entertaining short stories worth watching

You will not find your typical sitcom or romance stories here. But a very worthwhile entertaining short stories of the life’s of Chinese citizen. I like that these short stories covered struggles, farming, village life, science and technology, families, security and gave us hope that with hardwork, persistence and a positive attitude anything is possible. The ost is also great with many good actor and actresses, some you may even recognised.
Give it a try. Perhaps it could ignite your passion in life.

The best way to learn about market economy

This is not your regular drama for everyone; not much romance, no tragic scenes, but a steady pace of story line which tells the struggle of a family from When zhou. I enjoyed it because i have learned a number of things and used the stories here to write my economic assignments. There were numerous business models, government policies discussed throughout the drama which was very useful for an economic student.
Ah Yu story resonated well with anyone who had been send away by their family to overseas. Her struggles and persistence are very commonly seen in overseas students here.
Her parents in China and all the ideas that they came up with to earn money amassed me.
The ending is ….
happy.

A story about persistence and changing destiny

I ready enjoy this show as it is about a poor girl which fight against her destiny and made a better life for her self and family. The best part of it was the mixture of English and Chinese due to a portion on the drama was filmed in Malaysia. The portrait of the economic crisis and the collapse of the sub prime mortgages were reflected correctly. Really nice to see that these little details were there.
After all the struggles in business and love, the ending is good. There is no loose ends either. I truly looked forward to finishing this good drama.

Must watch drama for the year

This has a combination of everything I love. Chengyi’s acting was great and the story line kept you guessing until the end. You may not like the ending which left us guessing if he died or not. But I love it. I do think he survived somehow as he wanted to live a different life. Not much romance in the story but enough to keep some of us happy. The fighting and solving mysteries along the way was enough to unlock all the plots which made 40 episodes very bearable.
It deserved a second rewatch because there are some many mysteries yet to be discovered.

I have to confess after reading the reviews I am not even sure if I wanted to start the journey watching 62 episodes of this drama series. However, the story started to get interesting about 3 episodes in. The main male and female leads acting are just passable, but I am hooked on the storyline. Great War strategies and great fighting scenes. And half way through I found out there was a book on this drama series too.
So if you start with the book, I would urged you to forget about watching the series. It would be boring. If you start with the series, go read the book and you will find the plots more entertaining.
On the plus side though, the main lead kissing scenes in this series were very worthwhile to watch.

Beautiful story telling about family and work life

This is a grown up drama about life, marriage, divorce, work, and family. One of the best melodrama I have seen in this category. It is a dated drama, made 3 years ago, not new. However, the acting and the story telling are excellent and really hook you in from the start. The FL character does improve. It was quite annoying at the start. I did not like her attitude but her growth through the whole drama was very well written. Her friendship with her bbf lasted across many trials. Try this drama and you will not regret it.

I love this drama, although the cinematographic is slightly dated the story is beautifully written. The ending is not too sad as we knew she will eventually have to travel back to the present but the love story still lingered into the present.
In the end you cannot help but wonder if she should have a stronger personality. After all she is from the modern times and should not have put up so much shit.
I have seen many of these Kangzi Dynasty drama and the fight between all the princes always left me mesmerized.

I debated about giving it up, as the story is all over the place. But I could not let it go, I have to keep watching it. There are numerous plots and it will require your full attention to concentrate on who is trying to kill who and who is plotting against which person.
I think the writer could do more with the script. They are a number of loose ends which need closure. It seems that the writer forgot to go back and review the numerous plots they started but not finished.
Overall though it is not that bad.

Love seeing Peter Zheng as the lead. The costumes and the couple scenes were all very well done. His dominance on the screen is very powerful. The storyline about a playboy who fell into the pool in modern times ended up in coma taking him to historical times playing the lead girl role. There were two endings, and I prefer the one where the female lead woke up and found himself in the hospital with the treating doctor being the emperor from ancient time.
OST ok

OK, I was not 100% convince with the synopsis, picking this title up from Netflix. But I thought of giving a try as I was flipping through drama list.
You know it was a good drama when you continue watching pass episode 1. And this was what happened. The story line was progressing very pleasantly, wish I could also read the book before hand. The flow of the story was good and I did not feel there were any boring or dead spots. I particularly like the narration of the story.
The acting was good overall. Not sure I would consider any of the leads good looking (not my type).
The ending was kinda expected with a good result for both the leads.
In summary, I enjoyed watching it and good for a slow, raining weekend binge watch.

I like the plot, just because I could not guess what is going to happen next. It is very interesting until the last few episodes where I felt there was a bit of a rush job. The ending was also a cliffhanger, you may interpret it either way. Did she meet up with her true love in the future or not?

The emperor's characters were all done well and very convincing. All the actors are good to look at and dashing. I could not figured out their split personalities until the last few episodes. However, I am not a fan of the female lead because she seemed too ignorant on what is happening around her. A slightly stronger female lead may have balanced the whole thing out.

Worth the watch for a good laugh and eye-candid emperors, but rewatching value is low for me.

The same story as CEO's sudden proposal manhwa

I love it because it reflects one of of the comic I like very much. It is so good that they made this into a romcom show. Very light hearted that you can get through over the weekend binging on it. The best actor should be 'xiao bao'. He is so adorable and the director is able to pull off such great performance from a little kid. Kudos to the ML and FL who are able to compliment their acting beautifully with such a young kid. Being a sweet romcom, there are also some complicated plots which were all nicely executed. If you want something funny, to uplift your mood, this is the best antidote.
