This drama was honestly much better than expected, definitely worth watching. The general plot was fairly simple but the most appealing aspect of this drama was the characters and their development throughout. Each and every one of them faces their own problems and in working towards fixing them they grow as people. This drama touches on many major issues faced by people throughout the world and also shares many life lessons.

This drama may seem a bit dragging but it's certainly inspirational because it tackles real-life problems that anyone can relate to. It's all about career, love and family and struggles of daily life. If you are looking for a drama with a depth this drama is definitely worth a try. I also find the character development great. It will leave you something to ponder about in your life. As always, Ninomiya Kazunari was great here.

The story was amazing. All the problems that the family founds and how they overcome them was really beautifull, and with a happy ending, kinda disappointing but happy. At least they made a SP.
The acting was amazing and annoying at the same time (I couldn't stand the father). I was really amazed with the mother's act. Really amazing.
Worth to watch it.

For all of us who have finished school and gone into the world of finding a job, will truly relate to this show. This story is not only of some guy having a hard time staying in one job, but also of growth and realizing the importance of family. The main character goes through a transition of someone who is impatient, and blames his misfortunes on others and society, to a man who learns to accept and embrace his shortcomings while appreciating things he has taken for granted. These are the main points I liked of Freeter, a believable and easily relate-able story that helped me realize some of my own mistakes in life. On the other side, Freeter is tagged as a romance, but do not look forward to see much of that as it is to expect from Japanese stories that include "Romance," there is almost none of it. Relationships wise, Freeter focuses more on the family which at the beginning struggle to express their true feelings to each other, but gradually develop for the better. If you feel like watching a story of growth, and enjoy family dramas, this is a good recommendation, on the other hand do not expect to see much romance.
