Both star a noble young lady who secret leads the live of a warrior and fell in love with another warrior socially beneath her. Lots of action sequences, many of them on rooftops, and also stunning photography. The drama is heavier on romance, the film is heavier on the action but both share a good number of thematic connections

Its really good and is also set in nearly the same time period and conflict with Japan yet in Korea. Female lead is super badass too

recommendations are not just about similarities. if you watched mr sunshine 1st, then her private life could be like healing medicine?, and if it's the other way around then please beware, mr sunshine is not a romcom ;p
but both male leads have that serious yet dorky side? and both female leads are strong and independent women~

I'm not halfway through yet, but it's reminding me of Mr. Sunshine in quite a few ways.

In both dramas, the protagonist is a strong woman with her own ideals who is not guided by anything or anyone.

Both historical dramas, highly recommend watching, it takes place after the Joseon dynasty during the Japan colonization so it kind feels like it is continuing the story from another point of view

Both dramas deal about a group of people that tries to fight for koreas sovereignty. Both are quite powerful when it comes to father land, fighting for what one believes to be right and international relations.
Both dramas have well thought through stories with people that jump between the sides. Also both have quite interesting spies.

Strong FL and ML. Amazing cast that ultimately makes you like everyone and hate who you hate. Historical setting with treacherous love involved. Absolutely amazing dramas, both of them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

They're completely different plots, but I immediately got similar vibes from the first episode of The King. The aesthetics in both are very similar and give the same kinda feel. I've only seen the first episode of The King, but so far, both male leads have been hurt and wronged in their childhood as well as both of their parents were killed. The female leads also have similar strong personalities and aren't afraid to get hurt. They're also both good shows and are on Netflix ;)

Both have this dramatic feel about them
Intense sacrificial love between the leads
both around the era when japan invaded Korea
cool sword fights
"warrior gives everything to protect the girl"
although note that the movie was made in 2009 so give the direction/production a pass

Also has a backdrop of real events and is a romantic action melodrama with similar themes of loyalty and righteousness.

"All the way to the sun " And "Mr Sunshine" Both shows having age gap between female lead and male lead.

Both dramas have strong female characters and ahead of their time. Ae shin is a combination of You yi and Yan Wei's traits because, she's a noble lady by day and a freedom fighter by night.

Yes one, Knight Flower, is a comedy and the other, Mr Sunshine, is a tragedy
But I feel like the two female leads are really alike, both are strong with a soft heart that can’t stay still against injustice
And both have a quirky naive adorable personality to balance their strengths well

Every episode in these two series are like watching movies. Filmed beautifully, complex characters, strong competent leads. There is fighting, romance, drama. High quality dramas.
