Saw this in theaters, it was a pretty decent gangster movie. The kind where both sides show a little shades and good and bad. Mainly Ma Dong Seok is a detective and also kind of shady (not a spoiler, shown in the beginning of the movie). He's working in a squad that aims to get rid of the gangs in the city. Gang violence has deescalated, but then this new crew shows up and starts causing all kinds of trouble for the existing gangs in the city and the detectives. The characters were fun, but the outline of the story is pretty typical. The movie just was a ride through a different story with seemingly a familiar background. Was executed pretty well. I enjoy detective/cop stories so my rating may be a little higher than normal.

A modest story framed in a canned film.
Basically what we find in "The Outlaws" is an effective entertainment  film that looks at the golden age of US politicians in the 1990s with  the touch of Sino-Korean gangsters.
Where  a gang of Chinese immigrants, established years before and naturalized,  found ways to proliferate and live comfortably with stumbling blocks  and other outlaws. Residents  of the neighborhood are exasperated by the domineering domination and  destruction of the wicked, but they are also terrified of violence. Ma  Seok-do is also a resident of the area and gives him the necessary  know-how to keep things under control, at least until the unscrupulous  gangster Jang Chen and his henchmen who have the bad habit of cut  the people to accept anyone who opposes their demands ... The rest is  history, of course, relying on real facts and no cheery story, although  it has a happy ending. Highlight for the second part that is very addictive as the police action goes through. Nightly  atmospheres, the vivid depiction of the popular Garibong neighborhood  and dynamic scenes of action scenes help finish everything and create a  complete and award-winning package, great work for director Kang  Yoon-seong and a fun movie.
