Another wasted potentional

When I came across this show, I was excited to see it had some of my favourite BL actors; I wasn't expecting anything amazing since it's an 'earlier' show (coming out in 2018, whilst most of the shows I've seen are 2020+), and initially I was really sucked in. Was the acting great? No. Was the script good? Also no, but there was heart in it, and it really did do have the cute enemy-to-friends vibes.

However, half way through the series it all sort of went sideways. Out of nowhere the 'love is love' supporting adult is homophobic when it's her own son, which could have worked had it been executed properly. There was also the random revelation that the two boys had been friends in the past but fell out because Mork had got a little too curious about Tee's body, which really kind of came out of nowhere if you ask me. I also don't know why Barbie and Ching were included at all, because their side story was almost non-existent and pointless.

I really am sad that the second half of the series went so poorly; I read somewhere that there was a change in director/writer/crew or something half way through and that's why it's very different, but regardless, it did ruin the show for me. If it had continued as it was, I truly think this would have been a great series.

First, I was reluctant to watch this series due to bad reviews. I started this not knowing that this is what I'm watching, it was my Up Next on Youtube and the title was in Thai so I actually don't know what it was and I just watched it. My impression was that it was so cute and made me feel giddy it made wonder why the reviews were so bad.

Frank and Drake's chemistry was so on point. You can feel the love through the screen. I love it, I want to say one of the best one from all the BL drama that I watched (I watched a lot). Though I think the plot is kinda messy (or really messy), I think the first episodes are worth watching. It was light and funny at the same time. So if you just want some cheezy romcom I definitely recommend watching the first episodes (1-6). The rest episodes have too much drama going on.

The story was confusing, you will have a lot of questions from the first episodes. Unfortunately, the confusion was not well explained in the following episodes. In the first episodes, I thought their staring and flirting was inappropriate as Tee supposedly has a girlfriend. It was so weird that he wanted to win his girlfriend back by making Mork his pretend boyfriend, it just doesn't make any sense (though a lot of BL plot usually doesn't make sense). After I finished the series I just realize that they have feelings for each other for a long time, so Tee was actually made the winning his girlfriend back as an excuse to win get close to Mork. It was actually natural for them to pick up the unfinished business from the past which makes their relationship believable and actually very romantic. If you like a sweet, romantic, and light drama. The firsts episodes of My Tee is a must-watch. To achieve that conclusion, however, took quite a time.

The second half of the series was a mess. It was realistic that for a gay lover in high school to have dramas but, not like this. It's just drama after drama after drama, and the sweetness in the first episodes (that got me hooked), all gone all of a sudden. The drama that I praised for being sweet and light just turned to be the opposite. It was not that I don't like any drama its the drastic change that it just turn 180 degrees without warning I have a problem with. There are also some characters that were there but you know doesn't seem necessary?

Overall the music was definitely good, the acting could be better (the chemistry was so on point but that's not the case for the acting), the plot is quite a mess I would say (even the first half that I like). As a whole, this drama lack a lot but don't drop it just yet because I myself wonder how I didn't pick this drama sooner. The 6 stars are actually a generous rating from me, I would rate this lower (if i were to objectively rate this) but I love this drama so much and I rewatched some scenes several times. because at the end of the day, I watch this for entertainment, and if I enjoy it so what with plot holes right?

I watched a lot of Thai BL series. This one included. And this is also the first time I'm going to make a review on a BL series.

I can say in terms of the main casting, I love it! Theres a strong chemistry between Tee and Mork. Both handsome and perfect for the role. Frank is a revelation in this series. And I hope to see more of him in this kind of BL drama. I became a fan.

Honestly, I lost in the middle of the series. There were loopholes that needs to be address. But gained momentum again in the last 2 episodes.

The setting was very convincing. It features real houses, rooms and not just some units in a condominiums.

I suggest that they should make a season 2 of this. To give justice and answers to the loopholes in the middle of the series.

I also love the music. Theres a recall to it.

Season 2 pls..

Good but not great

To be quite honest, I'm not a big fan of Drake. I'm always distracted by his hair and eyebrows and not in a good way. Besides this fact, I found the series quite enjoyable. The interactions between the characters (within the couples and without) are very natural and believable. I adore dad Muad, he obviously loves his sons to death. The one character I could not support is Mama, and not because of her obvious homophobia, but for her lackluster performance. I have seen this actress in MUCH better roles, it seems this just did not suit her.

The drama was obviously struggling with financing, since editing is sloppy at some points (situational chronology is off). The sound is abominably bad. But even with these flaws, the drama was a good watch, which means the story stands.

I would have liked some more skinship, but the love between the couples is clear enough on its own. There are many loving and sincere interactions that made my heart flutter.

It's been a while i haven't watched thai bl. I randomly seeking a bl drama on youtube and found this. At the beggining this series was so much interesing, the plot was so good, the jokes in this series was my type. I did really enjoy this until at the middle episode the plot seemed to be forced and a lot of scene looks very unnatural and didn't make sense. A lot of 'suddenly' scenes appeared and there's a scene when mork's smartphone was robbed then suddenly tee came, then the day after that suddenly mork used his smartphone again. The feelings atmosphere also fluctuating, especially tee's mother sometime she had good feeling and tomorrow she had lame feeling.

Plot holes but so worth it.

This was really cute, basically just fluff if you think about it.
Not going to lie there are a lot of plot holes but Mork is a really adorable character. He really does have that "thing" that just makes it impossible to NOT love him. There were also some continuity errors but most pass by without too much notice.
Some of the conflict in the show seems a little bit ridiculous but other moments between the two main characters really make up for it.
It was nice also to see a show that is not necessarily set in the school for the majority of the show.
And the sound track is lovely, especially the main theme.

Story focuses on main characters

This was one of the first Thai BL drama series I watched and found on YouTube. After now seeing dozens and dozens of these type of shows, 'Cause You're My Boy really focuses in on the main characters. A lot of dramas now have all these side characters they also focus on and you lose track of the main characters, but not so much in this show. Mork and Tee are cute together. Pay close attention to the story because I had to watch it twice to figure out both of the characters knew each other in what I assume was in middle school, but because of a misunderstanding, they never really spoke to each other ever again until later in high school where the story takes place.

The side story of Mork's brother, Morn, and his friend, Gord, is cute, but they don't really go further than just remaining friends. If there was spin-off or a sequel, I'd think it would be interesting if writers expand their relationship.

I’m not even sure if Good is the right description but the series itself wasn’t really impressive. I mean, I liked it. Don’t get me wrong. There were just times I thought they could have done better with this drama. For example, Drake. His acting is terrible. I literally had to exit out the tab five times until I was like, “Hey, it’s whatever. Just watch the damn thing.” And I did. Frank was amazing. His acting, looks, and personality saved me from drowning. But did I grow fond of Drake eventually? Yeah, I guess. His acting just needs improvement and because he’s still young, I think he can do it.
Overall, this series was fun but it lacked many things. The audio is crap at times but bearable.

Great ideas, sloppy writing

Cause You're My Boy isn't one of the most regarded selections in the BL genre but many from the community have a soft spot for FrankDrake's chemistry and after watching this show, I understand why. Where this series fails in the writing compartment, it makes up for with genuinely heart-warming interactions between the main couple, Tee/Mork. There were so many moments that felt truly intimate. I appreciated the way that the boys would openly discuss experimentation and curiosity about sexuality and boners.

I also had an appreciation for the environment, despite the apparent low production. Cause You're My Boy is one of the only shows I've watched so far that depicts Bangkok as the busy, high-traffic metropolitan that it is. There aren't very many quiet moments on the show. Even in bedroom scenes, there are still times that traffic can be faintly heard. However, the sound mixing was sometimes noticeably lacking. Thankfully, it was never a major distraction. Along with the technicalities of sound in post-production, there were some very bad editing choices. For example, one scene in which Mork is covered in post-its and Tee begins removing them with his mouth. He takes one from his right cheek in the wide angle shot but in Drake's coverage, the post-it is still there.

I wish I could just say that much of my issues were with post-production but the writing was all over the place. The story was sometimes hard to follow because people would do things without explanation. Early on, I was completely unsure at how Mork and Tee viewed their relationship because there was no consistency. Sometimes, it would seem like Tee was pursuing Mork while Mork was hesitant and in the very next scene, the roles were reversed. The characters acted with no nuance or build-up.

The one storyline that had good foreshadowing was Mork's sickness, but even that got dragged down by lack of explanation onscreen. Mork's nosebleeds were indicators of his declining health but they were cleverly disguised by his wild thoughts of sex. Excellent allusion to the storyline but then they never even bothered to reveal what the actual illness was (YT comments say that it was Leukemia in the book). Mork's hospitalization was executed very poorly. I didn't even realize right away that he was hospitalized for a long time until a later scene.

A storyline that I thought suffered from poor development was Au's feelings for Mork. I liked the storyline but I thought there should have been more done to allude to that in the beginning. All hints leading up to the revelation came halfway through the show. And then when Mork reveals to Tee that he may have slept with someone (never saying who), Tee was completely unbothered. That wasn't very realistic at all.

There was a storyline with Bambi and Ching that came out of nowhere and then went nowhere. In fact, as soon as there was some apparent tension between the girls, they went missing for the next few episodes until the last episode where they have one single scene to hug it out.

Overall, I wouldn't recommend this drama to someone who wants a coherent story but if you're in it for the sweet moments then I say go for it.

Like many others, I started watching this series with a high expectation set by its first episode. There was anticipation of why the two main characters were separated by 3 years and the obstacles that lie ahead of them.

The plot is perhaps my biggest disappointment. I am not quite sure with what the director has up his sleeve as I could tell many details were not explained explicitly, or intentionally kept secret so as to create rooms for our interpretation, say there is no explanation to why Tee skipped classes a lot during his third year and how he managed to get himself together and what the diagnosis of Mork's constant nosebleed was. I may say it might be too ambitious to illustrate the problems that could possibly occur in a homosexual relationship when two schoolboys are still struggling with their sexuality and identification. They seem to have a touch upon family and cultures, the sexual intercourse problem and the perception from the society but neither of them are explored in depth, and failed to offer insights into looking these issues as a result.

The characters and acting are another letdown for me. What's plausible is probably the storyline for Morn and Gord. It is simpler, but stronger than the main CP as they are indeed too early to confirm their feelings for each other, though they are deeply aware of how important they have been to each other. Even though I have read some praises of Drake's acting and his sophisticated delivery of emotions with his facial expression, I may have to disagree a bit on this as he has been showing really similar expressions in the latter half of the series, though he successfully brought me some heavy feeling, only occasionally . Frank is for sure lacking acting charm, so the chemistry between the main CP is not at all convincing for a supposedly established couple.

I actually like the opening theme as it has the youthful spirit this series should have, but the sounding is terrible as it is always full of noises. As a big fan of BL drama who have watched most of the BL series in recent years, Cause you are my boy is a fall-from-grace for me.

This show started off really promising but like many of the other reviewers said, it went downhill very, VERY fast. So many problems popping up out of nowhere, so many unanswered questions to issues that were presented as big, it was just a big fucking mess, which was sad because the the two main actors really had a lot of chemistry with each other. The budget was low, one big giveaway for that was from the terrible audio in a lot of the scenes. Letting us at least know whatever condition Mork had that caused his nosebleeds and not leaving us with all this ominous talk about taking care of each other forever and not “leaving” (aka dying) would’ve been one way to make the show better. The other thing I think they could’ve done is about one of the last scenes where Tee is leaving to go study abroad and he puts the blindfold on Mork. It was assumed by a lot of people that he was going to ask Mork to go with him but the scene just kind of ends with nothing and then we get that weird last scene that’s the ice cream commercial that I’m not even gonna talk about. I think the best close for the season would’ve been for Tee to ask Mork to go with him because at that point, both of their families had accepted them, and it just seemed like that’s what they were setting up for this whole time. The reason my overall review is pretty high is because the actual scenes with the couple were adorable and they melted my heart. They were cute as hell tbh. I would rewatch just for those cute scenes of them. I’m looking forward to their episode in our skyy to see where they are at now.

I'm confused but pleased

I'll keep this review short.

STORY:
The plot has many holes, is messy, unrealistic, confusing, and not well paced. However, it is a cute story about the two boys. There's also a few well developed side characters. It's a fun drama to watch!

ACTING:
The cast did a great job with what they were given. The chemistry is amazing.

MUSIC:
It's decent music, not the most memorable.

REWATCH VALUE:
Unless I was rewatching this to understand the drama more, I wouldn't recommend it.
