Why?

Tried so hard to like this but as it wore one long episode after episode I felt like I was in an endurance race of mediocrity.
Pat has three faces...open mouth breathing, grimacing and then my favorite...trying hard to act like he is thinking. He's a singer not an actor. Give it up kid. Or watch some GMM TV great actors for clues. Your director obviously doesn't have one. Or was saddled with you and tried to fix to no avail. Really the worst BL performance I have ever seen. And I wanted so much to like from previews.

Chot and Jeng are fine and fun to watch and good production values but so long and who cares. The lead actor is so out of his depth and even puffy lips cant save him. Jaab is stunningly handsome but a case of arrested development aided by rich spoiled kid syndrome. Think he read German philosophers to learn to act soulful and sad.

Sorry this is a waste of time. Sorry I did. You are warned.

China once again sells gays as unhappy people

I started watching this series and was loving the cinematograpy, the story, the acting and direction. Really lovely and then what happens? They wrap it up with the same old Chinese homophobic ending. Faggots have to die or be unhappy or alone for the rest of their lives. Tired of hearing how China is opening up. The fact is there is a huge hunger for BL in China. And the Government is not stupid. They want to cash in on the BL market in China and internationally but don't want it to condone, defend or uphold a gay lifestyle. Yes I know everyone is supportive in the series (sort of) but utlimately its the same old ugly message. Pathetic.

This was so ORIGINAL and DELIGHTFUL! Broke so many traditional BL molds and no toxic tropes or clichés. I didn't expect much some reviews but it breaks new ground in quiet ways. I wholeheartedly implore you to check it out. You won't be disappointed. It stays in your head long after. Having a lovely healthy woman as a friend and not a villain who actually has power to confront her friend....pluses there. No there are not steamy sex scenes....this is something different to savor. Also the use of manga style with live action and camera angles make for a fun viewing experience. It just creative BL whimsy. I am writing far more than I planned on cause they say it has to be a certain length.

this is genius

okay. There are only a handful of BL series or films that I will never ever forget. This is one of them. The acting, the cinematography, the direction, the acting, the writing, everything. I watched it so many months ago and it still haunts me. I can't begin to describe how powerful and beautiful it is. You have to experience it. It's what BL should and could be.
That being said I warn you that the end will gut you in ways you don't expect. Not dramatic but heart wrenching. Every time I see the title on World of BL or other places I tear up and move quickly on. If this is making you not want to see it, ignore me. Just warning you that you are in for something so rare and amazing and surprising.
I gave it 10's across the board but only a three for re-watching because I can't again without losing it and I don't know who could in their right mind. Maybe I can in time.
But it is a must see.

Why is this director still working

High expectactions off the reviews. Set aside my weekend to immerse. What? The first five hours/episodes were glacial. The director kept putting Young Jane in the frame and longingly focusing on him for 30-50 seconds as he attempted to find an emotion. Rather like watching a tree sloth trying to move to another limb. That bad. The kid is pretty but has a long way to go as an actor. The script is pedestrian. Then episode 6 it picked up story line for a bit. Then back to the same horrible acting by young Jane in episode 7. Sorry to single him out but he really is wooden, inexperienced and unable to carry a series, especially a 12 hour Lakorn. Could have been done in 8 episode. I wish him well and that he finds a better director in future. Yes, I REALLY Blame the director. He has a problem with pacing, thinks painfully slow is suspensful rather than lethargic bilge. Have a feeling he watcheds Hitchcock as a kid and didn't get it. Yes he did the first Tarn/Type, with Mame basically directing in the background. Kid is clueless. Liked the OST.

dont miss this gem!

I am writing about this after watching it for the second time. It is so lovely, carefully crafted, well directed and written.
There is a quiet authenticity about the acting and pacing that will sweep you in like the sea, that is such a metaphor throughout. Grief, love, loss, sex, confusion, friendship, it's all here. And everyone is easy on the eyes in the way that real people are. The kind of people you fall in love with, not the filmic fictions.
When I think about the seminal BL series that go beyond the earlier ones we all love and know, like Bad Buddies, SOTUS, etc there are 4 that come to mind who have taken the genre farther in the last few years. This is one of them.
KinnPorche blew it up, Last Twilight opened it up to different realities and handicaps that weren't supernatural and with grace, Moonlight Chicken featured one of the great famous pairings that was unafraid to show them aging and inclusively welcomed a new young pair of future superstars, while telling a story about the real Thailand, and this series which is unfraid to be quiet, painful and so real. I urge you to watch it. You won't forget it.

too bad

It was an interesting supernatural premise and I agree the editing and direction were sub par...almost amateurish. There isn't much chemistry between the leads and the celeb was so lackluster in his energy, dull, trite facial expressions and plodding ways it was hard to imagine him being an international celebrity. If you have hours to kill and nothing else to watch it will slowly pass the time.
If you want to watch something fun, well acted, finely directed, paced with great visuals and chemistry and a supernatural element check out MARRY MY DEAD BODY. Show what you can do with talent and imagination

a hot mess

I am trying to decide if the director, the screenwriters or editors win the award for taking a promising idea and turning it into garbage. Think all three. Hope they cashed their checks. Hope they don't work again in the industry.
The poor actors struggle through a turgid script, cheap sets, bad lighting, pacing that makes a tree sloth look active and editing that...well, it could have been 6 hours rather than 12 and maybe been interesting.
I have never seen a a BL with that was so repetative. They kept doing the same lines, over and over again, in different costumes and sets. Brain dead. I waded through it. I hope you won't. I gave the actors a higher mark cause I think they were so sabotaged. Like a lakorn on qualuudes. But the NC scenes were hot! Boat and Oat still have chemistry.
