in some ways, i am impressed with the lack of personal drama between the Lord and Princess Awu. The withholding of emotional moments, crying, relief and ponderous discussion maintained movement and tension. It left the viewer to feel the emotion, but did not slow the story down - and then in subsequent scenes, we see them slowly building back together, for example in the coming episode where Awu expresses her sense that everyone is changing and asks her husband if he will change. I am learning so much about how to be human from this series. Look how he allows her to be scared and have doubts. His response? To assure her. Also, it is delightful to see how an honorable man expresses anger. The punctuation of not being constantly loud, and then staccato explosions in specific moments are far more powerful than some blaring fool trying to rage-on and constantly steam from the ears. And, finally, the crushing disappointment of Song Huiaen. How true that when one is inwardly self abasing, one is vulnerable to the machinations and bribes of others. What a tragedy he will become. i know i don't write "reviews" - this is much more of a journal entry... because this show is that much of a factor in my personal evolution. what greater compliment could i give a series... if not that?
